How would the mod affect the clarity of the screen? I've been wanting to do something similar with my Pocket Color, but never do because of how incredible the picture quality already is.

Ah, its just to make things brighter so I don't need to be around a light source.
Actually, I do have a question about Shan's NGPC mod using an SP front-light. His guide says he uses a 47ohm-1/4watt resistor (or a 50ohm potentiometer). Any reason why that is?
I've tested the Halo (front)-light for the GBA I'm taking apart works, it lights up with a simple 3V input.
