TG16/PCE/Duo Composite, S-Video, Component Comparison shots

Post by electrochip »

So I modded a couple of units with S-Video using a CXA1645 to convert the RGB into S-Video and a CVS287 to convert RGB to Component. I noticed a big difference in clarity and colors. It looks like the original composite signal is washed out on the TG16/PCE/Duo and much better with the CXA1645. I'm using a 27" JVC CRT SDTV.

Wow, I've always been a fan of my Duo's composite out clarity, but there's a big time difference there in color saturation. Very nice stuff.

I have a SCART RGB modded Duo with a SCART cable to go with it. I don't have a TV that accepts this cable.

Would this allow me to do s-video with that same cable? Is anything lost/gained?

S-video is 2 signal cables where as RGB and component are 3. So yes you'd lose a little bit of clarity.

The RGB to NTSC encoder will lose some quality, but it is still much better than composite. I added component as well.

ok my color saturation was WAY off on Composite and S-Video, I fixed and uploaded new pictures. Sorry about that, I just got the tv a few weeks ago and haven't fine tuned it yet. I think I have it just right now.

I added a few more shots, I think you get the idea. TG16/PCE/DUO should be video modded.
