Never considered playing MGS4, not until my wife scored me a copy at Best Buy for $10. Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. When Snake Eater comes out on the 3DS, I'll finally finish it.

Enslaved

and it sucked. Platforming for babies, mediocre combat, stealth based gameplay that's there for like two levels then gets chucked out the window, predictable story, half-assed third person shooter gameplay(chapter 11 is when Enslaved suddenly tries to be Gears of War and fails miserably), unskippable cutscenes, an annoying female character that I'm suppossed to actually give a shit about, a loser protaganist who acts all nice to the girl who basically enslaves him for the whole game, stupid annoying pig looking guy who just just makes me wish Pey'J from Beyond Good and Evil was in the game

Ugh, what a mess. I'm seriously giving up on modern video games. I think I may just go 100% retro

Because retro games cant ever be just as bad? Stop buying into the hype if your finding yourself burned more then not on new games. As well, start waiting a year or two before picking anything up. That way if you are burned its for much much less. Hell, a lot of games I would get frustrated and bored with at higher price points I really enjoy for a few bucks simply because my expectations are that much lower.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Though I can't say for certain that it might not appeal to you, but for me it was a letdown. I wanted to love this game. I like a good adventure title, but it just does everything wrong.

The story in particular was surprisingly bad. I'm gonna try not to spoil anything here(not that anything in Enslaved's story is actually surprising), but you might not want to keep reading just in case

If you played the demo, you know that Tripp acts like a selfish bitch right from the get go. Well unfortunately, she never STOPS being the selfish bitch that she is at the beginning of the game. Monkey gradually ends up swallowing his pride and just accepting his slave-like existence, which has me kind of hating him by the end of the game. This is the perfect game for anyone who has a domineering, control freak girlfriend you're trying to break into gaming. She'll love this game. Enslaved is like a bad chick flick. Big, dumb guy who has no purpose in life until some selfish bitch comes along and makes him her slave(literally). Big, dumb guy is now happy. He has purpose in life by doing everything this woman tells him to do. Yeah, real nice story there

Tripp is one of the worse female characters I have ever seen in a game

Oh, and the game's epilogue rips off a very well known movie. In fact, if you're paying attention, you can tell very early in the story what movie Enslaved is ripping off. Really, unoriginal, uninspired, derivative story

And the gameplay? Well Enslaved is another one of those modern games that wants to be a jack of all trades and ends up being a master of none

Here's the most accurate review I've seen. If you really want to know what the game is like, read this:

http://worthplaying.com/article/2010/10 ... ews/77289/

And this one I just enjoy because the writer points out what a bitch Tripp is:

http://www.gamerevolution.com/review/xb ... o-the-west

Okay, I'm done bashing Enslaved. Oddly enough, I did like some things about it, but not enough to cover its flaws. It IS a solid rental or bargain buy though I think
