Recommend me some PS3 games!

I'll definitely be checking out the Little Big Planet and Bioshock Demos when I get home. I'm already confident that I want Valkyria Chronicles (The same guy I got the system off of has it so I've seen it in action). Infamous seems like something I might not enjoy, but I'll give it a try if there is a demo for it.

I would recommed exploring PSN, there are a ton of fun games there, that are just as good, if not better then most retail releases.

Agreed, PSN is also the only place you are going to find the limited shmup library of the PS3 (i'm not into the import scene so please correct me if i'm wrong). Basically there's Soldner X and X-2 and the Gundemonium Collection. There's also the PS1 downloads and imports where I've seen a few shmups pop up.

I'm aware that I'll be missing out on some great games by ignoring the PSN, but I'm ok with that. I cant stand digital distribution and will absolutely not spend a penny to support it.

Recently I was lucky enough to buy a YLOD PS3 for cheap and get it running again. So now that I've got the system I need a game or two to play on it. The only genres I've really been paying any attention to have been the RPG and Fighting games.

Here is a small list of games I'll already be on the lookout for:

What are some of your guys favorite games (from any genre) that I should add to my list? I'm not a huge fan of Sports, FPS or Racing, but there are definitely exceptions to all of those genres so I'm open to suggestions only if you think a particular game really shines.

I'd also like to find some good Puzzle and Shmup games if you know of any. And keep in mind I'm only interested in retail released games. Nothing that is downloadable only please.

Hey man, I'm looking into getting a PS3 as well, and I'd just like to know how you got the YLOD fixed, and how much it was. Oh, and how much you spent overall, would be nice.
