Wrong. It's not even Brewdog's strongest beer any more, It's since been surpassed by their own Sink the Bismark @ 41% which has also been surpassed by their own The End Of History @ 55%. Incidentally t' Koelschip have a 'beer' called Start The Future which is 60%. However I have it on good authority that it's a blend with cask strength whiskey, so not technically a beer.
I don't like TNP, I tried bottle number 37, and I was disappointed, I was expecting something like their Paradox Smokehead, something that has that lovely warming whiskey flavour whilst being extremely smooth to drink. It's not, it's just alcohol. However, I've heard from people who have tried the 3rd and 4th batches, and some that have had the 1st batch but almost a year later that the beer tastes good. Whether this has something to do with age of the beer, or they're simply trying to justify the money they paid for it I don't know. I prefer the vastly superior Sink the Bismarck to the TNP, incredibly hoppy but really malty as well, It's like really peaty whiskey without the kick. Incredibly drinkable, to the point of it being extremely dangerous. In this country it comes in a paper bag with 41 written on it and a stopper on a piece of tatty string around the neck. We sell it for £70 a bottle.
The best beer I've had recently is Mikkeller Black 16%.

Amazing. Massive hops, malt, hint of caramel, almost sherry quality to it. Gorgeous.
Are you sure those are actually "beers". I am by no means a master brewer, but I don't see how it's possible to make a beer with that large of an ABV. I was always under assumption that Samiclaus which was at 14% ABV was the strongest beer in the world.

We have Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus at my pub, technically it isn't beer either. It's lager. It tastes like lager, and to be honest, isn't that enjoyable. It's ok, nothing spectacular. Regardless, Mikkeller Black I mentioned in my post - which definitely IS beer - is 16% anyway...
Freeze distilling is a bone of contention amongst many beer enthusiasts and brewers at the moment. A lot of them denounce TNP, Bismarck etc as beers since they are freeze distilled to attain such high ABVs. They call them hopped whiskeys or wheat spirit. Having tried all (including the former strongest beer in the world 'World's Strongest Beer' by Schorsbräu) but the End of History of these super high ABV beers, they still taste like beer to me. To me, that is what counts.
Edit: In fact, I remember incorrectly, just checked the Black and it's 17.5%.
Excellent, heavy head, good body and a good bite (read as spice) and just a tad sweet. Not bad!
The other night I had a Meantime Coffee Porter. I've had this a few times and always enjoyed it. Great flavor and an even better texture. One bartender recommended I serve it over vanilla ice cream and man was she right! Highly recommended!
I currently have one of these bad boys in my fridge. My next conquest!

This is why we're friends.
If you haven't, check out Sprecher's and Goose Island root beer. Also, if you're ever in the midwest, look out for some Potosi brew. That's some great stuff.

Stone (I think) recommends to o do that with one of their porters too. I've been meaning to have a beer and ice cream night with a good selection of porters and stouts and a big tub of real vanilla bean ice cream. One of these days...
Very impressive listings so far. Everytime I go to the Beer Store I try out a new one, the latest that I'm really enjoying is Wellington Arkell Best Bitter. Brewed in Guelph, Ontario, so I'm not sure of it's availability outside of Ontario, Canada. It's not as bitter as I thought it would be, it's actually very smooth and I think people who generally don't like bitter beers would be fine with it.

I actually really enjoy Miller Chill. It's kind of a strange choice for my favorite beer, but there's something about that slight salt and lime flavor added to it that just makes it feel like every beer is a treat I should be savoring, even despite it being a light beer.
