So, you see. There is an annual geek event called "Expocomic" around here and Sony has bought exclusive rights so no videogame activities on anything not made by Sony is banned. And in exchange we get 20 consoles with Tron in them.
So yeah, what's next? Banning cosplay? Pen and paper RPGs? Why care for the community, nobody ever wants to play tournaments and have fun, we just want crappy advertising!
The sad part is that they do it for the money and it's not a lot of money in the first place. Assholes.
This is why we can't have nice things. Yo uwork so you can get a community going and someone trying to make a fast buck ruins it.
Last time they raised the price of entry and people ended up going only one day. They simply don't understand how this works.

I know this doesnt help but welcome to life. A community grows and one asshat tries to make money off it and ruins everything, others copy.
Re: I'm pretty angry right now
That speaks pretty poorly of the Spanish division of Sony if they feel they need to block all non-sony gaming from a convention.
Even retro gaming is banned?
Even retro gaming is banned?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Hey, its Expocomic's loss, by not having more diversity in video games vendors. Enough fans get turned off and the ticket sales will dwindle the following year. I think every year, a larger percentage of visitors to "Comic Cons" are video game fans.

Thats not a downfall of life. Thats a downfall of capitalism. FU@K money. I hope we are someday smart enough to move past it.Frizz.Meister wrote:I know this doesnt help but welcome to life. A community grows and one asshat tries to make money off it and ruins everything, others copy.

Sony are ruining gaming, etc etc. You've all heard it from me before folks, I can't be bothered repeating myself.

It was already felt today. Fewer people came because they got bored yesterday, something I have never really seen. No videogames mean less stuff to do and it's an activity everyone can pick up and play. Normally each small club brings their member's consoles and count them as part of their activities.CRTGAMER wrote:Hey, its Expocomic's loss, by not having more diversity in video games vendors. I agree. In fact, a very sizable part of cosplays were about videogames and not about comics. I cosplayed as Marth from Fire Emblem and the amount of girls that asked me for photos was unbeliable.I think every year, a larger percentage of visitors to "Comic Cons" are video game fans.
I think that, in the end, the problem is that the organization lives in a slighty different world than the people who go there. They only see the tip of the iceberg and no what matters.
It reminds me of TV excecutives sometimes if you know what I'm saying. It's like when they add pop culture references because some funny things have them but they don't copy the funny part, only the reference. This is very similar.
For example the fact that most people go there so as to meet new people and get dates tend to be a taboo subject when it should be something to consider whether you want to cater to it or not.
Yes. No Sega for you and no PC gaming either.Flake wrote:Even retro gaming is banned?
First of all, that is not a "downfall of capitalism". The first reason is that if guest don't like how this goes, they won't go and they will go bankrupt, meaning that capitalism works.Jonesy47 wrote:Thats not a downfall of life. Also, this is not a capitalistic venture, this gets money from the goverment because it's a cultural event.
