Yeah I actually have a thing to say about this. In the booklet in the collection, is a timeline of all the platform Mario games ever released. New Super Mario Bros on the DS is there. The fucking rereleases on the GBA are there. AND THERE ARE NO SUPER MARIO LAND 1 AND 2.

WTF Nintendo? Can you only kiss one man's ass? How about recognising the hard work of the most important man in your history. you know the one who designed your best selling hardware (GameBoy, and well the DS since it's basically a Game and Watch + Gameboy + touch screen)

In my own defense:

what??? Dude I played all the SMB games back when they were originally released, and SMW is STILL my favorite.
Same here, SMW1 and Yoshi's Island blew my mind back in the day.

Yeah you are going to need to give me a reference for that one. I know he said it was embarrassing but not that the worst game he made.
Embarrassed, worst, same thing.

Case in point he admitted it wasn't the best thing since sliced bread:

I generally always found Mario 3 and World to be solid, but not great or amazing like everyone else I know tends to.

Yes they're long as heck and feature all sorts of power-ups that were cool to watch if you were a kid playing them in the 80's and 90's, but the control is loose and the games feel pretty slow compared to their counterparts in the series.

Thankfully later games such as Yoshi's Island retained the razor sharp controls and feel of the original Super Mario Bros. or avoided most of the slippery ultra slow feeling I experienced. Like how New Super Mario Bros played leisurely but not as if I was under molasses the whole time and while slidy it wasn't a complete skating on ice feeling like in Mario 3 and World.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Wowowowow, thats crazy. I can be embarrassed about something, but it is not the worst thing Ive done. ie, I am embarrassed by most of my old works, but they are not the worst Ive done. I am embarrassed because I can see the flaws more than others can.

As for Mario titles, I still like Mario 2 US the most. It is more like a story book than the others.

Mario 2 US gets a lot of flack. When it came out we had no idea it wasn't a "real" Mario game. And it seemed crazy and awesome. I still love it.

Mario 2 USA is an awesome game. Maybe it doesn't stand up well to the other Mario 2D games, but it's a damn fine platformer in its own right. You KNOW if Doki Doki Panic came West (probably with a different name) it would be a liked game. At the very least it would be in the Hidden Gems list for the NES! It's definitely a solid game.

So are the complaints about the control limited to the nes version, or both the snes and gba version? I prefer the snes/gba vs the nes's version of SMB3. If you felt the controls were slow I bet you thought Super Mario Land 2 was at a snail's pace, at least I did.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island > SMB3 & SMW

Apparently Super Mario Land will be available on the 3DS virtual console.
