I also normally comment and riff movies with my friends, be they good or bad we will comment on them and that doesn't suit well with most people.

This depends for me. If I'm at a theater an my friends start riffing on a movie, I'll elbow them and tell them to shut up. If I'm at a party or get-together and people start riffing on a movie, I don't care. If I like the movie being riffed, I'll buy/rent it later and watch it alone.

This pisses me off as well. It's really bad when sad bastards argue which genre of Heavy Metal is best. Black Metal, Death Metal, and Thrash Metal are all good, you dipshits!

It's particularly prevalent with the metal crows, that 'metaller than thou' attitude pisses me off immensely. Nobody gives a fuck if you were into Satyricon before they 'sold out'.

I know I admitted that I'm a bit of a Metal Snob, but it's shit when someone feeds you a bucket of shit just because I haven't listened to a band as long as they have. So what if I got into them before they sold out? I'm still listening to their good material! Also, Satyricon, sell out? What the shit?

I particularly don't give a shit if you think I'm somehow a worse person because I can listen to and enjoy pop music, as if that makes my opinion on 'metal' irrelevant. As if it suddenly means I can't listen to a band like Dimmu Borgir and appreciate it. WTF.

Hey, the lead singer of Skeletonwitch listens to Lady Gaga. ;)

Niode wrote:I'm snobby about beer, as any of you who frequent IRC know very well. I'm a beer enthusiast, I like real ale/craft beer. A lot. It boggles my mind how people drink the commercial mass produced swill they sell everywhere. It's bland, tasteless and worst of all is overpriced for what it is. I'm flabbergasted when people tell me it's 'good' or 'tasty'. It just isn't. Having real ale/craft beer then having to drink lager is like having the finest smoked salmon then being charged the same price for tuna. It just makes no sense to me at all.

We should help each other out. I am sure there are tons of craft beers not distributed to the States that I would love to try. And Vice Versa, not much of our craft scene is shipped overseas (at least that I know of).

Well, a lot of people consider Volcano and onwards to be their 'selling out' point, it's when they went from like medieval black metal, to the whole 'black & roll' thing. Personally, I like Volcano, I prefer it to Shadowthrone but I like both of them for different reasons. Volcano is definitely a more commercial sound, it's not quite melodic death (which I'm a massive fan of) and it's not dirge dirge dirge black metal sort of thing (which I can take or leave to be honest, the vast majority of it doesn't do it for me, the whole DIY aesthetic works against it in my opinion, it just sounds - from a production point of view - terrible). It's a happy medium.

Nothing wrong with Lady Gaga, she's a talented artist/performer. She's a breath of fresh air for the pop industry, it's about time somebody who can actually write music, perform it and sing without needing auto-tune came around. It's been a long time since we've had somebody like her.

Sounds good, setting up a beer swap sounds like an ace idea. Shipping might be a bitch though. We'll have to look into the logistics of it. I'll see what I can do at my end and start a thread about it I think.

She may be good at what she does, but what she does is nothing all that good. It was crap when Madonna did it 30 years ago and it's not any fresher now. Good music needs more than a catchy hook and a fake attitude.

Doesn't look like their distribution has made it up into Michigan yet, but I might have to check them out, I have a customer in Schererville which isn't too far from there.

I'm a fan of craft beer, but not really a snob about, people drink what they like and I normally have all different kinds of beer in my fridge. My father-in-law and I have started making our own too.
