Seeking GameCube GCOS file memory card transfer service!

Post by hooby3d »

I used to have a working Max Drive Pro, but it stopped working, and I can no longer use to it transfer files from my computer to a GameCube memory card.

I have been looking for another way, but there does not seem to be one - and then I just had the idea to see if someone could do it for me :).

I can send you a memory card and then you could put the GCOS file on it and send it back. I have the Max Drive Pro disc, so I could use that to boot it.

I can pay for shipping and maybe a little something extra.

Please let me know if anyone would be willing to do this!
Thank you!

Maybe go the Gecko SD card route?

Anyone you know with a Wii could do this moving the save from SDcard to GC memory card. Or have Nintendo stopped that?

There is no way that I know of to move files from the SDcard to the GC memory card with a Wii. There are some homebrew apps to do this but they are only for save files as far as I can see (and I want to move a .dol file).

I thought about the Gecko SD way - do you know if the Max Drive Pro disc can read from one of those?

Is the GCOS packaged as a gamecube save? If so, I might be able to do the transfer with my Viper GC extreme. It has the ability to transfer files from a PC via the USB cable to either gamecube memory slot. PM me if you want to try this route.

Not sure, possible since its made by Code Junkies. Their latest Action Replay has a undocumented SD Media Launcher. Probably better going that route anyways for all the DOL and GCOS.

There is a homebrew app on the Wii which enables you to boot GC homebrew (not sure on its name), using it you should be able to transfer it across to you memory card.

Oh shit, I just did it! So happy!

Thanks for your advice - it got me thinking :)

Here's what I did:
1. Acquire the GCOS .dol file
2. Use the Max Drive Pro PC software to convert the dol to a .sav file
3. Use MaxDrive Save Converter 1.03 (google) to convert the .sav to .gci
4. Use GCMM (Wii homebrew) to get that file from an SD card to a 3rd party memory card
5. Boot up the Cube with the Max Drive Pro disc and you are gold!!
