Please recommend to me fun 360 games. What's something good that's relatively new, but has been out long enough to come down in price? I like most genres in this rough order: 3rd person action/adventure, story FPS (half-life, etc.), arpg, jrpg, ... but anything good really. What do you got?

Do you like horror games? If you're willing to put up with its retro vibe and are a fan of shows like Twin Peaks, I'd suggest Deadly Premonition, which released as a budget title exclusively for the 360.

I'll only recommend stuff I've actually played

3rd Person Action/Adventure:
Batman:Arkham Asylum-It's a good mix of beat'em up, stealth and some Metroid-like exploration. Best Batman game to date
Brutal Legend-Great game if you love heavy metal. It's full of metal references. It's got some melee action, some driving, and some light strategy elements. It's sort of a hodgepodge of different genres all in the service of creating the ultimate heavy metal game
Tomb Raider Underworld and Prince of Persia-Pretty decent platformers, though they have their flaws
X-Men Origins:Wolverine-Plays like God of War but a little more fun and user friendly
Bayonetta-Great action title, a lot like Devil may Cry
Dead Rising 2-Like a beat'em up mixed with a survival horror game
Lara Croft:Guardian of Light-I just started playing this and it's a lot of fun. It's platforming, puzzle solving and some old school, top down shooter gameplay

First person shooters:
Well, The Orange Box if you like Half Life. Portal alone made me glad to own it
Peter Jackson's King Kong-Bit underrated I think, the story plays out better than the movie I think. The gameplay is sort of a mix of survival horror and first person shooter most of the time, while the King Kong segments have platforming and beat'em up gameplay
Bioshock-A little overrated, but still a good game. It has a lot of story for a first person shooter and some rpg elements as well. There's a sequel available as well
The Darkness-Good story and some interesting gameplay elements

And the big one, the Mass Effect series. They are must play titles

If you want to play something very different and out of the ordinary, try the Viva Pinata games. They don't get enough attention. All those Farmville junkies on Facebook would probably love them

I don't know of many japanese rpgs on the Xbox 360 that are worth playing. Final Fantasy 13 has a great combat system, graphics and sound. However, the game is a bit too linear and restrictive and doesn't have much in the way of optional quests. The story is utter crap too and the PS3 version is actually better

EDF is great

Enslaved is great based on the demo (I'm STILL waiting for my retail copy to come in the post, it's been 4 weeks now... apparently there was supply issues and it was shipped 2 days ago, so fingers crossed it will appear tomorrow morning)

I also really like Castlevania LOS. Some people just say it's a GOW clone but I think it's way more than that. The combat is better definitely, it looks gorgeous, the voice acting is good plus it's really immersive and the game lasts bloody ages too. 30+ hours campaign if you find everything.

Don't forget the very excellent Pac Man CE DX.

Hmm, I've never heard of deadly premonition, sounds cool. I'll check that out. Thanks for all the recommendations, I've got lots to work with now. It's going to be a game-filled holiday season for me!
