Do your Xbox 360 slim controllers move on their own...

Post by fuctfuct »

I bought a slim last week and exchanged it because the controller moved the character on its own. (I would move the character around and when i stopped it would continue to move ever so slightly). The second one i got did it a bit less but still did it (also the vibration motor was rattling around inside the controller..... I am on slim number 3 now and the new one i just opened does the same thing. Less then the first but more then the second.

None of my older bought and sold `Normal` 360`s controllers did this.. wtf

This would not be a problem with the slim... it would be the controller. Have you gotten an older controller that you know works and try that, or perhaps try your "slim" controller(which doesn't exist because the controllers are exactly the same, except for appearance)on a 360 you know works?

I am aware that it is a controller problem and not a console problem. I have bought and sold about 6 360s since they came out and never had this problem until i bought a slim (or 3 slims now lol). I have no other controllers to test.

My Halo Reach Slim controllers have the same issue, it will automatically move left sometimes and up for some odd reason. I tried out my old elite controllers on it and they work fine, im thinking maybe its a mass production issue.

Both of my older controllers do this. My oldest one is the worst. When playing Fallout 3 or New Vegas it will just randomly start moving left slightly until I stop it. Now my Elite controller is starting to do the same thing, but not as bad.

i've had that happen w/ a few different controllers for different systems. it's usually just the stick getting a bit stuck in one direction. sometimes i could just avoid "leaving" it where it gets stuck. usually it's not a persistent problem. other times i've reset the system while holding the stick in the center to recalibrate it.

Nintendo's always been pretty good for this issue. On the N64 you could hold L+R and press start for an instant recalibration without turning off the console. On the gamecube you hold down X+Y+start for 3 seconds to recalibrate, and on wii you can just unplug and reconnect the nunchuk or classic controller.

Is there nothing like that you can do on the xbox?

BTW, at least with the nintendo controllers, when it happens its normally that the stick isn't aligned centrally when the systems turned on (like if the controllers upside down and the sticks pushed, or if your playing with it as it turns on). You're not doing anything like that right? I know you probably know that and think im being condescending, but it always helps to check.
