They had a bunch of those. They also had stuff like an animatronic opium den, "What the Butler Saw" adult peep shows, etc. These were all the rage around turn of the century America - pop in a quarter (or nickel) and watch the gruesome unfold. These are all restored and working.Hobie-wan wrote:Wow, what's with the 2 Execution and the Guillotine machines?dsheinem wrote: Here's a bunch of pics from a few weeks ago: http://s429.photobucket.com/albums/qq17 ... echanique/
As much as I was impressed by the video games, I'd never really seen that kind of stuff - let alone a TON of it - in person before. I have all kinds of possible ideas for articles floating through my head....

That place in San Francisco is awesome been there a couple times.dsheinem wrote:You guys should go to Musee Mechanique (http://www.museemechanique.org/) on Fisherman's Wharf. I was there a few weeks ago and it is a trip - the selection of video games is impressive but even more impressive is the pre-video arcade machines. I spoke with the owner of the place, who's family has collected arcade machines for several generations. The arcade even includes titles from the mid-late 1800s. He's going to be on an upcoming podcast.
But, as I was saying, the lineup of video games are also impressive. I got to play about a dozen cabs that I'd never seen in the wild...
Anyway, .02 from the other side of the country.

Yeah, maybe I'll buy 707's Deathsmiles. I have the JPN version, but I am a Cave whore and I wouldn't mind owning the US version as well.

D&B sounds fine with me and I know exactly how to get there. I just need someone to fill me in on what kinds of games (specifically, do they have retro arcade cabs?) they have there. Last time I've been was over 6 or 7 years ago?

Honestly, I was really let down when I visited about 6 months ago. They have a couple ultracades which I used most of my money on (player one joystick was shot to hell lol, so I used player two). A different variety of driving/ride on games are there, but redemption games have definitely taken overarnold_the_bartender wrote:D&B sounds fine with me and I know exactly how to get there. D&B is fine for me also. i went there about 4 months ago and mostly all they have there are various racing games. there's little retro games here and there, but that's it... so what do you have in mind?Bradtemple87 wrote:Honestly, I was really let down when I visited about 6 months ago.
