Better to just open it up and get the dust out completely. The console is out of waranty anyway.
Even out of warranty consoles will be repaired by the Sony Service Center, at a price. Breaking the seal kills the service repair option.

That's what I was saying in my first post in this thread. For that price, I'd either try and fix it myself, or put the $100 toward a new PS3.
