Any one into short films?
Any one into short films?
When I was in school my teacher told us that there is a world out there where a lot of fans exist for short films, stuff that is 10min to 45min long, and they got yearly festivals
And he showed us a short film about some kind of a monkey statue that is cursed...
If any one know the name of this film please tell me
since then I have never heard of the short films again
any one here a fan of short films?
do you have recommendations?
do you want to share something about them?

I stumbled across a short film that ain't half bad... A Perfect Place it's called. I heard about it because the guy who did all the music for it is a modern day vocal renaissance man, if you will. He packs some pretty mean compositional skills too. His name is Mike Patton, you may know some of his work from bands like Faith No More, and perhaps to a lesser degree, Mr. Bungle. But those are only an iota of his career. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_patton He's also done some voice work in video games... I think The Darkness was his voice over debut and I believe, among a few others, Left 4 Dead also features some of his vocal antics. Anyway, the soundtrack and film were released in the same package, essentially marketing it to fans of Patton. Like I said, it ain't half bad. It's about a couple shmucks who get in a bit of trouble. If I remember right, it's kind of funny too. I recommend it to basically anyone, it's worth at least one viewing.

I definitely dig short films and have a couple in pre-production myself. Some stories don't need to be 80-90 minutes and tighter writing, editing, and direction can only make you a better/more efficient filmmaker. Hell, there are a lot of movies that I wish I could edit down to shorts haha.

You are probably lucky, 90% of short film festivals around here are about violence against women. The rest are composed of dozens of films about violence against women, and moral anvils dropping all the time.
The most subtle thing I have seen in those festivals is a capitalist who instead of talking, barked. It's as bad and pretentious as it sounds.
I haven't seen many short movies, the only good movies I have seen are animated shorts from the Golden Era and a couple of random films.
I'm writting the script for a short movie I'm making with a friend. Given how perfectionist I am, it's taking long but it looks good. That I also direct and act doesn't help matters haha. It's comedy so I won't be able to take it to any festivals, comedy is not art and that stuff.

Mike Patton also did the soundtrack to Crank 2: High Voltage. The soundtrack is the best part...optmusprimenumber wrote:I stumbled across a short film that ain't half bad... Short films are cool. Google "Keith Lango" to find his blog, where he posts a lot of CG short films. (Keith Lango is an animator who works for Valve).
Also, I made a CG animated short film in 2008.
