Not this time - it was more of a speed run to get my Sega CD title in for the year.
Also, I'd like to know your favorite "song" for the game. I believe mine is the third stage, "past". Sounds really rustic, almost jungle like but incorporates the "orchestra hit" sound that made techno in the 90's so popular.
I like music from the Stardust stages. Bad Future rox my sox.

Same here. One of the best for the snes indeed.
All the bosses seem fairly tame to me. Once in a while the twin dragons will catch me off guard, and will lead to me drowning, but if I'm equipped with the boomerang, I have no worries. Also, right before dracula you have that level where the floor keeps rising, and one false step leads to death.
I've already beaten Super Castlervania IV this year, but I might beat it again tonight depending on good the MNF game is. The game is a masterpiece, and I always love listening to the soundtrack, which is unbelievable.
Actually the Twin Dragons was one that I always had an easy time with. I think what bothers me the most about the dancing couple is that they fade in and out, so I have trouble judging their location. Most of the other bosses I consider fairly easy once you understand how they operate, though Death threw me for a loop the first few times I fought him.
Finished Sly Collection. I don't really count Deathsmiles as I have not 1cced it yet, but I've made it through to the end of the game
Hoping to finish Enslaved and that DLC only Tomb Raider game before the year is up. I didn't finish much this year. Guess that's just life getting in the way. It's surprising to me though how little I've finished gaming wise though. This thread really made me aware of it. I probably spent more time posting here than finishing games this year

so you don't consider a shmup complete unless you 1cc it? that is straight gangster.
It's a point I've debated with people on this forum before and different members have different opinions, but given the unlimited credits some shooters give you, I don't feel like getting to the end is really earned unless it is 1cced. I don't feel like the game has really been beaten otherwise
I tend to have a rather hardcore view on certain things

I think I've pretty much beaten Wii tennis. The two opponents, Elisa and Sarah (with 2000 and 1900 skill points) no longer change no matter how many times I win. The skill points I get from beating them are already in the single to double digits, and sometimes I even lose skill points if I didn't beat them convincingly enough.

Yes, this was my first time beating Super Metroid. Actually, that's my time ever beating any Metroid game. Like Super Mario Bros., it's one of Nintendo's franchises I'm just not that big a fan of. I think it's nifty, but I've always been much more of a Legend of Zelda kind of guy I suppose.
Anyway, I still had a good time, and I managed to get 92% of the items. I'm pretty sure it was all missiles that I missed. The art style was good, and I enjoyed the gameplay for the most part, but getting used to the controls took a while, and even at the end I was fumbling. There were a couple of puzzles where I failed multiple times and ended up just cursing repeatedly for a good half hour, and at least two points where I just flat out didn't know where to go, but I eventually got the hang of things. I also discovered that the d-pad on my SNES controller is having issues going to the right and up when I don't want it to, so pulling off some of the jumps were a pain in the ass (it made spin jumping to the right a nightmare), but that's not the game's fault.
Oh well, I had fun. I'm going to attempt to go for fifty games by the end of the year, but I won't be making it a priority. I'm quite happy with 45.
Oh, on the shmup 1cc discussion, I'd say it comes down to personal preference and how much skill someone has in the genre. Gamerforlife and many of the other guys on here play a lot of shmups and want a new and interesting challenge in the genre, so they try for the 1cc to consider a game truly beaten. Me on the other hand, I'm not very good at shmups, and I don't play that many. So even if a game gives me an infinite number of credits, I feel good just managing to beat it, because it's still a struggle. Maybe if I spend more time playing them, I'll begin feeling confident enough to try 1ccing a couple, but for now, I'm happy just seeing the ending screen.

At some point (I think it's 2,000 points), you can go off the top of the white chart. I'm somewhere in the 2,100-2,200 point range if I recall correctly.
