I hate survival horror games in every form they can be found.
Except for Hellnight that one is actually quite good. Because it does not contain
awkward/handicapped fighting and is light on the puzzle solving. Instead it focuses on the most primitive instinct of survival running away.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also games like "I wanna be the guy" that is games with stupid amount of spikes, reliance on double jumping and all around unfair level design do not deserve being called games because a game is aimed at entertaining this is the polar opposite.
It could be argued that beating such a game may feel like a big accomplishment but really after being beaten down countlessly any small amount of progression feels like an accomplishment.
It really is a step back and frankly im appalled by the fact that developers are actually making money of games like that because it lets them get away with what may be best described as LAZY LEVEL DESIGN.
Yeah screw balanced difficulty just throw enough spikes and double jump puzzles and gamers will love you for creating a challenging game.

Fallout 3/New Vegas
I could go on a rant/rampage explaining why, but I won't
Kingdom Hearts (all of 'em)
keys open doors.
Oblivion
can't say I hate it, but spent sufficient time with it to say I don't like it
ASSASSin's Creed 1+2
hold down button to make fancy moves
Super Mario Galaxy 1+2
... just no...
and a bunch of other

The ultimate one has to be Crazy Taxi. Back in around '99-'00, we had about 10-15 people in a little circle of friends (mostly music nerds). I was always down for a Soul Calibur round-robin thing, but then CT would be popped into the Dreamcast. The voice of the guy - "let's make some crrrazy money!" - felt like pin pricks in the inner part of my eardrum.
Evil Zone
I liked fighting games with actual moves and at least a modicum of personality. To show my disdain for this title, I took a photo of the disc in my cat's litter box, complete with two bits of cat poo on top. It was buried diagonally in the litter like a photo of a flying saucer after having crashed into Earth.
Some "in" titles that I just didn't care for but didn't have disgust. Know what I mean?
- Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Ys types of RPGs, etc.
- Turn-based military sims
- Any Mortal Kombat release after MK3
- Mario Party
- Most any game based off of a movie (usually a debate when I dealt with the JoeSixPack types of casual gamers)
There are games that I love single-player but can't stand multiplayer, even when everyone's about to orgasm over that feature.
In terms of games that I just don't like, I'd say most RPGs also fit the bill for me.

Ooh, I've got a big one... controversy alert!!
Sonic the Hedgehog. Every single one I've ever played.
Now, I will concede that I haven't played every installment, but the much heralded Sonic games on the Genesis are just not my games. I can appreciate they were the flagship for the Genesis, but still... the control is always slippery, you go too fast and when you have to slow down it's nearly impossible to make your mark. At the very least the graphics are great one them, but that's as far as my praise can go.
I also never liked Grand Theft Auto.

Street Fighter - Cant get into these. Too slow and boring.
Mortal Kombat - Worst game series... Ever.
Fallout - zzzzzz
Starfox - Boring
Resident Evil series - Horrendous story telling. The current games are no longer survival horror. Just shooters with very little substance.
Zelda OOT - Incredibly boring, zero character development.
Warcraft - I really dislike games that are set in "old times". I'm a sci fi whore. Love me some Starcraft.
Red Dead Redemption - GTA in the wild west (incredibly boring time period) with horses.... OK.

I bought my very first xbox when they made the new xbox halo green edition. I called up three friends and invited them over for some fast action shooting and some pizza..We loved the ps2 and Timesplitters. Halo was supposed to be the shiznit........
Let me tell you.if you are used to the speed of Timesplitters2 ...Halo was not the game for you, unless you want to pay online against people you dont know and pay microsoft even more money.....
I hate Halo....[then I found Halo 2600] so nice in box....!

Halo- I think the true veteran gamer summed up my points quite well...
GTA series-Just never got into it.. I never really tried to progress with the storyline and ended up using cheat codes and causing havoc on the streets, followed by playing the next game... Never purchased beyond Vice City..
RTS games-Well first of all I suck but I just could never get into them.. Games like Warcraft, Starcraft and C&C are games I could never get into because they required too much devotion and time.. I get why they are so popular and how it takes skill to compete in them.. I just never "got it" I guess?
COD series-See the 1 million previous posts..

Re: Games you don't like that everyone likes
[insert popular first/third-person shooter here]
More seriously though, Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, Metal of Honor, Resident Evil games other than 4, anything Tomb Raider, 90% of Final Fantasy games, Grand Theft Auto games past GTA2, anything Mortal Kombat, 007 Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, World of Warcraft... I think that's most of the major ones. I'm sure I'm leaving a few out.
[EDIT]Oh yeah... Gran Tourismo, and pretty much every popular sports game go here also. The Sony era has not been kind to me. Hence being on a retro gaming forum...

Maybe in the ice levels, but under normal conditions, Mario controls like a finely tuned Italian sportscar.Jrecee wrote:The control in mario is waaaay more slippery than sonic.GryeDor wrote:Ooh, I've got a big one... controversy alert!!
