I didn't see a topic for this. I played the demo on the PS3 and was HIGHLY impressed. I had more fun in that one demo than I had playing the entire Tomb Raider: Underworld game. For one thing, combat was actually fun. An odd thing for a TR game, and everything else about the game was enjoyable too. Is the rest of the game as good as the demo?
Also, should I opt for one version over the other? I know Crytal Dynamics has screwed PS 3 fans over in the past with exclusive Xbox DLC. I don't approve of exlusives at all, but that's getting off track. I'd rather play the PS 3 version given the choice, better controller. TR doesn't feel right for me on the Xbox either. I still associate Lara Croft with Playstation and always will

Re: Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light
Its a truely awesome game. Honestly although i suck at it, it always feels fresh. Each level can be aproached in many different ways and the graphics in my opinion are beautiful.
If you opt for the 360 version hit me up for some co-op as i've just downloaded it after getting screwed with the ps3. Plus oposite to you tomb raider i dont associate with playstation as my first tomb raider game was on the Sega Saturn.

I bought it on Steam. Still need to install and play it though. Maybe once I beat another game I can uninstall, I will put this on.

I absolutely love this game. My friend and I have a blast playing it on co-op. We die a lot, but its not the kind of dying that frustrates. I haven't had this much fun dying in a game since Duke 3D! It has all the beautiful graphics, puzzle solving, and platforming you'd expect in a TR game plus the combat is fun as well. My only complaint is that it is too short!

Re: Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light
I downloaded it on PSN yesterday. I'm sort of drifting between this, Enslaved and the Sly Collection right now(trying to finish all those Master Thief sprints in Sly 1 again)
I'm on level 3 and it's the best Tomb Raider game I've played. Everything feels just right. The platforming is solid, the puzzle solving is well designed and the game has a WONDERFUL retro arcade feel to it. Each stage has high scores for you to reach and the combat feels like a retro shooter. I'd compare the action to something like The Red Star or Smash TV. It's basically you blasting enemies from all directions while dodging incoming attacks. It's the first Tomb Raider EVER to have fun combat. In the first level alone I enjoyed what I was able to do to my enemies. Crush them with a boulder, drop a mine and blow it up to kill three enemies, impale them with a spear or just blasting them to death with whatever firearm I have handy
I love the rpg like upgrades and equippable items you can use. Should I assume that's SquareEnix's influence?
I hear the game is great in co-op. I'm not disputing that, but I'm LOVING the single player. As a perfectionist, I love all of the optional objectives in each stage as well as the hidden items, power ups and the optional challenge rooms. This reminds me of when I played Mortal Kombat:Shaolin Monks. Taking an aging franchise and doing something fun and fresh with it

It's not actually a Tomb Raider game. The title is "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light". Eidos must have felt freer having ditched the Tomb Raider label, which, frankly, was tired and did not represent much to gamers anymore. It must have paid off for them.

Re: Tomb Raider: Guardian of Light
Yeah, you're right. I changed the topic title to Lara Croft:Guardian of Light. From what I hear this did great critically. So I guess it did payoff. Hopefully, sales were good too. The combat was always my biggest complaint with the Tomb Raider games, but I never expected them to go isometric and toss in rpg elements and drop the Tomb Raider moniker. It really does feel fresh. I hope the rest of the game stays as good as what I've played so far. The first two levels were great. You can sense the confidence the developers had in the combat system as the first two stages throw a lot more action at you than you'd expect in a TR game. Combat no longer feels like an afterthought. Some of the optional stuff is interesting, like asking players to blow up every truck in level 2. That was just plain funjfrost wrote:It's not actually a Tomb Raider game. The title is "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light".
