Recommendations for media center console? PC? PS3? 360?

I havent used anything other than windows media centre on my laptop. I have an extra HDMI lead into the wall leading to my tv and I connect a 3.5mm cable to my sound system and I'm good to go.

I did try my ps3 and had a lot of problems. Regardless I think due to the functionality and customization that can be done a pc is the way to go.

Definitely a pc or mac mini. You'll never have to deal with converting files, storage space, or getting locked out of service like hulu. If you want to go really cheap and basic then Roku is great, but they do lack a lot of functionality in comparison.

I think I'm going to end up with a HTPC (Home Theater PC). I just have to read some articles on buying/building one.

I was surprised at how expensive a new xbox 360 slim are on Amazon. Did prices increase recently? It seems that you have to spend $400 for one with a hard drive.

Buy an old PC, it will do everything and will not run into any problems.
