Oh yeah, I forgot to mention - before Daisuke Ishiwatari made Guilty Gear, he did Last Blade for the Neo Geo. I wouldn't say that they really play all that similarly, but still, you might wanna check out Last Blade and Last Blade 2 to see where the man got his start.

Groove on Fight / Matrimelee are similar, if you're looking for fighters with non-traditional and innovative character design.

I think you can see the same combo-style in LB's Speed mode.

While that may be true, I wouldn't considered Last Blade to be a similar game to BlazBlue or GG.. Granted it's a great series in its own right..

I know, that's why I said in the post that I didn't think they played all too similarly.

Still, if you are a fan of Daisuke's work, it's worth looking into. it's much like how a Gran Turismo fan might also be interested in taking a look at Motor Toon Grand Prix, just to see more of Kazunori Yamauchi's work.

Lol my bad, I didn't see that part of the post at first.. Yeah I agree that Last Blade is just a great fighting series in general.. They need to rerelease it on WiiWare, PSN and XBL IMO.. I know, wishful thinking..

They´re cheap and really great!
indeed Battle Fantasia is great as well has really tight 2D gameplay, but with 3D graphics.
