looking for fighters similar to guiltygear/blazblue, is there anything else that's similar to these two? I like them a lot.

The only games I can think of that match the pace and graphical style of Arc Systemworks fighters are Sunsoft's pair of SEGA Saturn fighters; Waku Waku 7 & Astra Superstars.

If you are talking about similar gameplay, I'd say Battle Fantasia is somewhat similar but more simplified.. If you are talking about the 2D graphics, you have King of fighters XIII as being on par graphically, although the online sucks...

You might try Arcana Heart on the PS2.

Arc System Works was more than obviously inspired by the Darkstalkers series and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Start there.

Heck, play Vampire Savior enough, and the Guilty Gear series will seem slow-paced.

I'd also recommend the Melty Blood series, as it was obviously inspired by Guilty Gear.

Oh yeah I forgot.. You should check out Melty Blood.. It's a Doujin series on the PC and JP PS2... Plays very similar to GG and has graphic novel aspects to boot..

I have a jp saturn w/ vampire savior, so I have that part covered.

melty blood eh? hmm...

Is Continium shift a big enough change from Calamity trigger to make it worthwhile?

A few new chars and the rest got rebalanced/extra moves. It's basically BB's version of Super Turbo. So I don't know if you'd consider that worth the upgrade or not.

I personally didn't consider Continuum Shift a big enough departure. New characters and a few rebalances aside, it felt like the same game - especially considering my preferred character, Taokaka, was almost unchanged. I ended up returning it two days after buying it so that I could put the money towards another game.

If you have a Dreamcast, make sure you don't miss out on Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. It is a ton of fun, and you will see where BlazBlue got many of its gameplay concepts. (Don't miss out on Vampire Chronicle on Dreamcast either.)
