Games Beaten: 2010
Re: Games Beaten: 2010
I beat Sonic again yesterday during the half time of the 1pm games, but I couldn't get the third chaos emerald. Seeing Robotnik with that one gem pissed me off, so I beat it again during the half time of the 4pm games. For me, the third emerald is always the hardest to get.

Hmmm according to Backloggery (for collection) and True Achievements (for gamefly)
StarFox 64 (N64)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Viva Pinata (360)
Battlefield Bad Company 2 (360)
2010 Fifa World Cup: Africa (360)
WET (360)
Batman: Arkham Asylum (360)
Halo 3 (360)
Mega Man X (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest (SNES)
MarioKart Double Dash (GCN)
Magic: The Gathering (360 arcade)
Portal Still Alive (360 arcade)
Total: 13
I'm playing Splosion Man currently and have Dragon Age ready to go. We will see if I can get them done in before the new year.
I put too much time into NHL 10 and 11 this year.
I'll have to put more effort into this in 2011 and top whatever count I do for this year.
It will be a shortened time since I will be joining the military before summer.

earthworm jim kicks ass. i have never played the original on the genesis or snes, but the box says something like longer levels, more levels, more weapons, cd quality soundtrack, and over 1000 more frames of animation. but i actually wonder how much more noticeable all these enhancements are. one thing i didn't like about the game was having to do the andy asteroid levels 6 or so times throughout the game; it was too damn repetitive. and after playing both, i think i prefer the the first over the sequel.

New Super Mario Bros. - DS
Dead Rising 2: Case Zero - XBLA
Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing - 360
Fable II - 360
Fabie II: Knothole Island - 360
Fabie II: See the future - 360
Final Fight - XBLA
Sonic 4 - XBLA
Portal: Still Alive - XBLA
Gears of War 2 - 360

Metro 2033 - 360
Skate. - 360
Star Wars The Force Unleashed - 360
Star Wars The Force Unleashed II - 360
Medal of Honor - 360
While a very solid shooter, I dont feel like it did anything that had not been done before. I enjoyed playing it but it felt fairly average for most of the game. The highlight of the game is sliding when you crouch while running, what I will remember most about the game.

50+ hours in and I finally beat the main story. Fallout 3 is probably now one of my favorite games of all time. I've never felt that immersed in a game before. I created a stealth based character and relied heavily on critical sneak attacks to play through the game. I'm probably going to play through the DLC that I haven't got to yet. I finished Operation Anchorage, and will probably do The Pitt, Mothership Zeta, Point Lookout, and Broken Steel next in that order. I've got Fable III on deck, and Fallout: New Vegas soon after that. I also want to give the original PC Fallout a shot soon, as I really became interested in the game world while playing Fallout 3.

First time ever to beat Top Gun without some sort of cheat. It's still tough as nails, but once you play it for hours on end, the payoff at the end is worth it... Well, kind of.
*Bows Down*
Holy Crap! I didn't think it was humanly possible to beat that game. It tormented me throughout my childhood. I beat hundreds of games, but never Top Gun. And I played it A LOT.

So, Halo. I enjoyed it for awhile, but the last half of the game was just a slog to get through. The levels get too long and repetitive. The story is sort of lame. It's this weird mix of kiddie goon aliens, macho space marines, and dark zombie like creatures. The ending was also totally bleak. I'm surprised this game has achieved classic status, except for the fact that it perfected console FPS multiplayer better than anything else at the time and it helped put the XBox on the map. I heard the single player campaign was really good, but I didn't really like it that much. Still, I finished it, which I don't do for a lot of games, so that's saying something I guess.

I am continuing to play my way through the Orange Box games for the first time (with the exception of HL2) and was quite pleasantly surprised by Ep1. Not only was it 3-4 hours in length, but it included many of the best aspects of the series in a distilled form. Looking forward to 2.
Assassin's Creed is one long ass game. It is also repetitive and, at times, clunky and inaccurate. But, it is beautiful and has moments of wonder and intrigue, so I persevered. I am excited to give AC2 a shot in the future as I heard it is much improved over 1. If they addressed the shortcomings this one had, it may indeed be a great game.
