You also have to remember a lot of flat panel HDTV's don't like 240p over component (Which is what you will get when converting RGB to component if you don't have a SCART connection.

I would definitely be interested, but I would like comprehensive instructions on how to set this up on a TV in the US. I have a CRT with component inputs I have my DVD player connected to. However whenever I try to search for a SCART to component solution things get complicated and expensive. If you did this it would be great if it you sold a US package that came everything I need to connect console A to component input on my TV. Another issue I've seen is what to do with audio. SCART is carrying the audio signal too, and for some reason those YUV converters never have audio out of them.

Yes, Racketboy go for it! I think we should take this great opportunity, and have someone right up a nice "how-to" guide for this topic.... Racketboy style.

Within the guide, perhaps someone could include which SCART > Component converter is best. There are $50 cheap ones on ebay, but I do not trust them. Better brands come from a companies not heard of in America, such as Keene (APTUS1), or QED QCV Scart RGB to component convertors. Then there's JS Tech, which is twice the price but has Audio out built in.

Finding the Convertor boxes on ebay is hard enough, let alone finding at UK seller who is willing to ship to the USA. These boxes are not available in the USA anywhere.

Having a nice guide on this topic would really clear up a lot of confusion for USA Gamers. I haven't been able to find one good guide on this topic anywhere on the net. Racketboy should get the exclusive!

The two cables honestly look exactly the same, but are wired differently.

The Japanese exclusive standard known simply as RGB is the one required for upconverters and all of us US people.

The European standard is known as SCART and is widely available all over Europe for cheap and not worth stocking aside from just the sake of it.

There's a new X-RGB coming next year that can upconvert to full HD via HDMI and will be available under $250.

If you're gonna buy RGB cables get the Japanese standard, not the European SCART type.

If you get the Japanese standard then people who have X-RGB upconverters can easily and quickly connect all of their consoles to it for retro fun on a modern display without lag or image quality deterioration.

A very good point of the two types of RGB. Does Racketboy ship to the Euro Market? If so maybe carry both?

The price of 5 to 6 bucks is attractive enough to carry in the store. A concern of how many U.S. buyers, considering how much a RGB converter upscaler would cost. I bought a VGA upscaler proprietary specific to the SNES-N64-GC for thirty bucks. noise has the same model, where I initially found out about this. It used the N64 S-Video signals and converted to 640x480 resolution. Luckily my CRT VGA monitor supports this lower resolution unlike a lot of LCDs or HDs which is also an issue. RGB option probably would look better, though at a bigger expensive.

U.S RGB Market
I think most who own a Retro TV would buy the S-Video cables instead. HOWEVER, S-Video input is going by the way of the dinosaur on newer HDs, so perhaps there might be a U.S. RGB clientele. A brand new HD with determination get the most out of a given Retro console, even the added cost of an upscaler with RGB input.

Euro RGB market
Do most newer Euro HDs support RGB SCART input? If thats the case, absolutely carry the Euro RGB SCART cables.
