What do you guys do (other than switch to joysticks) to treat/prevent thumb damage. I always get blistered after playing fighters for awhile. And only fighters.
I can consistently do fireballs in street fighter though =D
thumb damage
Re: thumb damage
Not really much you can do. One of my friends sometimes uses three fingers to press the face-buttons instead of his thumb. You can also bandage your thumbs up.
Honestly, I've never gotten thumb blisters yet from all the fighters I've played, just sore thumbs.

I know you said "other than". But honestly, if you are playing fighting games (on a pad) enough to get blisters, you probably should consider switching to a joystick.gennss wrote:What do you guys do (other than switch to joysticks) to treat/prevent thumb damage. Re: thumb damage
Have a joystick, i was just playing from a spot I couldn't comfortably use one, so I spent most of Sat/sun tearing up my thumb. Been doing this on and off since '94ish i think.

Re: thumb damage
Just use a band-aid or tape to wrap your thumb. The snes controller has given me some killer marks over the years playing turbo for long periods of time.

Re: thumb damage
I only use my right thumb to press buttons LOL.
I am actually used to get my right thumb bruised up tapping buttons in fighting games but sometimes, I consider that a badge of honor if I "fight with style".

Re: thumb damage
I hate the way my thumb feels on a controller if I have a bandaid on it. I'd almost rather have an infected wound.

Re: thumb damage
With some fighters that support analog sticks, I hold the analog stick with my thumb and pointer finger, and use my pinky/ring finger for the shoulder buttons. This doesn't work with D-Pads and it's not too practical in Tekken, but it's pretty useful in BlazBlue, Whatever vs Capcom, and Street Fighter IV.
