Sarah Connor Chronicles. Opinions.

Post by Gamerforlife »

Anyone catch the two hour pilot?

I thought it was pretty decent. I've seen better sci fi fare, but this wasn't so bad. I mean I'm viewing this as a casual fan. I've only seen each movie in the Terminator trilogy maybe one time, but I think the show has a solid foundation. Summer Glau is awesome as the new terminator, and probably the best thing on the show. The actress for Sarah is pretty convincing and well cast. The show doesn't skimp on action, although I've seen better fight choreography. It's not terrible though, and it's still nice to see a genre show with a decent amount of action, when most of them today are shying away from it(Heroes, Smallville). Some of the special effect stuff I saw wasn't too shabby and the story is fairly good so far.

I think a real strength of the show is the character based stuff. Cameron is very terminator-like, but shows some decidedly human traits. It's interesting seeing her interact with Sarah and John, and she's a bit mysterious too. I like that they occasionally throw in a comic moment for her, but it's never overdone.

Sarah is convincingly tough, but has a nice gentle, motherly side to her. Already I see some nice conflict between her and Cameron, even though they both want essentially the same thing, protecting John.

John may be the show's weakest link. The actor plays him alright, but I'm not thoroughly impressed. Plus, he seems to have all the traits of your typical annoying teenage character. We'll see how it goes.

I think the show has had a solid start. There's potential there and in just its two hour pilot it already has more going for it than Bionic Woman, which turned to crap pretty quickly.

As a Terminator fan, I don't really like it that much, but I will give it a second chance, since its only the first episode. I've notice that they are ignoring the third movie, Sarah Connor is supposed to be dead at 1997.

I'll give it a shot, though honestly it looks crappy. Maybe I'll be presently surprised, I was with Heros and Firefly.

So I looked into this whoring of the Terminator franchise awhile ago. Turns out James Cameron was married to Linda Hamilton (the original Sarah Conner) on their divorce apparently she only asked for the franchise rights, which she immediately turned around and sold for a ton of money. All of this was a few years before Terminator 3 was released.

Yeah so thats why everything Terminator post #2 sucks, James Cameron isn't involved doesn't have the rights ect.

So far there is Terminator 3, this TV show and the announcement of movies 4,5 and 6. Which apparently are set in the future but they did get Edward Furlong for John Conner though I'm not sure how well he could pull the role off now.

Maybe during all of this mess a good game might come out of it, unlikely I know. I actually should try that Sega CD game again, people liked that one.

No interest in it. I saw a trailer a while back, and fury set in. I love the movies, but the trailer made it seem absolutely retarded. It looked like every other network TV action drama.

even the third movie, steaming pile of total shit that it is, was well-executed from story terms in that it brings the trilogy full circle. i kinda wish they wouldn't fuck with it anymore kinda like i wish square wouldn't fuck with FFVII anymore, but i also would like to start puking money every morning so hey.

You are right that a trailer can make something "seem" and "look like". Trusting it beyond that is fallacy. Haven't seen it myself, but I'd like to check it out regardless of not liking the trailer myself.

Can't say that I agree, it's already better than Heroes, Smallville and Bionic Woman IMO, and the show's barely even started.

Course, I'll have to see upcoming episodes to know if it'll really be good in the long term or not. It's got a positive reception so far:

I'm not surprised some Terminator fan are upset about it. I honestly don't care what anyone wants to do with the franchise. I'm not a die hard fan so I'm not so protective of it. I just want to see good tv, and I like what I've seen of it so far

Of course, nothing will compare to Lost and BSG when they come back as far as I'm concerned

I love The Terminator and T2. They are amazing films. T2 is my favourite film of all time. No other film has ever been that convincingly real and threatening ever since. Terminator 3 was just a joke. I hate the fact that they just took the sewn up ending of T2 and pissed all over it saying that they only delayed judgment day. WTF?! Dyson died, skynet was destroyed, all traces of skynet was destroyed. How the fuck can it come back?

I downloaded the pilot for the show about half a year ago and still haven't brought myself to watching it yet. I don't think I could do that to myself.

BTW Edward Furlong is only rumored to be in Terminator 4. So is Christian Bale, but he's rumored to be the next Bond, well, I know which role i'd pick.
