Advanced Daisenryaku 2001 final Eng translation Dreamcast

Post by Anthony817 »

Ok folks, Nebelwurfer has just released his final English translation patch FULLY translating all ingame Kanji to Latin alphabet and English. He did this ALL by hand, and it took him a few years to get it done. I have applied it to a fresh CDI image and uploaded it to share with the world.

I made a shitty video showing some of the awesome before and after screenshots.

yeah, i feel that there are a lot more dreamcast games that are more interesting that should be translated, many of the capcom games that have not come out over here would be awesome to be translated or games like segagaga and rent a hero no.1. but im happy that someone translated a dreamcast game for once.

*Space channel 5 part 2 has been fully translated to English using PS2 Ntsc-U data.
*Shenmue 2 had the Japanese Speech replaced by the American English from the Xbox.
*Segagaga is in the works, and I just messaged the guy that translated this game by hand to see if he would be interested in teaming up with the guy doing Segagaga. I have yet to get an email back from him, I only sent it just last night.

Rent A hero had an unreleased American version for the Xbox that was leaked if I am not mistaken. Some people were discussing the possibility of swapping some files to the Ntsc-j version and making a proper English game, but it never happened.

The best version is Dreamcast PAL Shenmue 2. Has Japanese voices with English subtitles. As in a great foreign film, the mood seems more authentic spoken in the native language.

True, but many Americans like myself and a few of my British friends prefer the American speech. It just makes it feel more complete when you consider the first Shenmue had American Speech.

I agree with Anthony817, in the sense that whilst I acknowledge that the English dub is mostly horrendous, it does feel more "complete" playing it with the English speech. I love playing Shenmue 1 straight into 2, and the change in language kind of breaks the continuation and cohesion between the two imo. That said, I love the PAL too, because it does feel more authentic. Basically, I can see both sides of the debate. I'd love a version of Shenmue 1 with Japanese speech and English subtitles too.

Quoted for truth. I couldn't have said it any better myself.

The developer of the patch asked that I post his online manual he spent so much time working on. I hope this can be of use to gamers.
