Not sure why it took me this long to beat Alien Hominid. It's certainly not the longest game in the world. I guess I just never sat down with it long enough to do it in one sitting. Anyway, great game if a bit short. I'm pretty sure I'm preaching to the choir though, as I would never have known about Alien Hominid had it not been for this site.

After I beat War of the Gems, I figured I'd shoot for another quality Marvel Comics SNES game, so Mutant Apocalypse ended up in my console. I had always hit a snag with this game in the past: mainly I didn't like the starting levels. So I sat down in practice mode for a bit until I could safely beat a few of them and then tried my hand at the real deal. End result, I do ok with Wolverine and Gambit, get lucky with Cyclops and Psylocke, and then discover how I'm supposed to be using Beast. Once I figure all that out and beat the first five levels, the game improved significantly.
As far as characters go, I found I enjoyed playing as Wolverine the most, due to his speed. His lack of power in his jumping attacks left a little to be desired, but he was so quick on the draw, he was my main choice against the likes of Apocalypse and Magneto. Beast and Gambit I used to take down the two halves of the Exodus fight, which was extremely well handled in my opinion. Cyclops I pulled out to fight Omega Red and Juggernaut (both fights I was happy to see).
In general though, Psylocke got the short end of the stick. I really didn't like her character-specific levels, and though her high jumps and faster pace were nice, she just wasn't what I needed to complete the group-levels. It's really funny how little I used her, considering she was my main in X-Men: Children of the Atom.
Oh well, still an awesome game.

Portal - PC *new*
Uniracers - SNES *new*
Total: 80
This was my first play through Portal, even though I've had the Orange Box since shortly after launch. Not sure why it took me so long to get into it, but it was a ton of fun. I thought that after finishing it the "cake is a lie" meme would suddenly become hilarious, but it is still dumb. The song at the end rocks, though.
I am counting Uniracers as beaten since I've medaled all of the standard (and some of the bonus) tracks, but getting golds on everything seems nigh impossible. Still, this is now one of my favorite SNES games and certainly one of the best non-Nintendo made exclusives to appear on the system.
There's a chance I might reach 84 or 85 by the end of the month as I am purposefully trying to finish up some games I started earlier this year and never finished. I still don't know if 100 by year's end is doable or not - but I tend to have more free time in late December. It will be a challenge, for sure. I did manage to knock out titles for two more systems that I hadn't yet beat a game for yet this year, so my goal of beating something for every system I own is getting closer to realization. I still have the Jaguar, N64, Gamecube, Sega CD, PCE CD, 7800, and TI99 to tackle. Given the nature of the systems, it might be tougher to find a game that can be beaten for those last two, but I can probably find something.

First 50 Games here!
@dsheinem:
100 games is a lofty goal but your doing well so I think you could do it. As for me, this has been my most successful year for game completions yet. What do you do for a living that affords you so much free time though? And how can I do it too?
- *New* God of War (PS3)
Technically I just forgot to add this to my previous post (which has been added now), but I'll put it here anyways. Was not a fan of this game. Story wasn't very good and the combat was reptitive and dull. Don't even get me started on the poor platforming. Did this series get popular only because of the gore?
*New* Braid (PSN)
This game is visually stunning, but I didn't really like the game play. A lot of the puzzles didn't seem very logical and I had to resort to trial and error guess work. Not fun.
*New* Sonic Chaos (Game Gear)
Shorter then I had hoped, and relatively easy (except the final boss), but overall a fun sonic game. I was pleasantly surprised.

A good chunk of my list was accomplished during the summer or during other academic calendar breaks. Additionally, a good chuck are short 1-2 hour arcade-style games. Still, there are some heavy hitters like DA:O (+ Awakenings) and Fallout 3 on there as well as numerous 10-15 hour titles

Metroid Prime took a little while to get into, but I ended up really enjoying it. I'd tried it a few times before and never managed to get into this, but after an hour or so of it this time I was finding it hard to stop playing.
The game woulda been a complete 5/5 for me but the last hour or two really dragged - I had to go through the same area multiple times - but the enemy battles in each room of the area were forced each and every time. Then there was a fetch quest, which replaced a lot of the old rooms enemies with another annoying set of enemies I HAD to kill to be able to exit the room. It's a shame it ruined itself like that.
Mario bros wii was the opposite for me - Early on I hated it. The first two worlds felt badly put together for 1 player. However, things started to turn around in world 3, and by world 4 I was having a blast. I enjoyed this one a lot.
Next up: Zelda: Twilight Princess, Pop Island and De Blob.

Coming right off the first they polished up some mechanics from the first and made the engine itself much more enjoyable. HOWEVER, the game is overtly short, they reuse levels, you start the game with most of your powers so leveling up is not as satisfying as the first game. They did saber crystals better in this one.
The big let down I thought was the story, the first felt plausible, this felt stupid, and the ending (The light side) just felt... useless. Better in some parts than the first, but much worse some other areas.
I like that there is a level select, so when I can be bothered I will play the final stage again and get the dark ending without having to play the game through again.

This also marks the 360 as the platform I have completed the most amount of games on (It was PC for a long while, it still might be but I dont have them all listed).
