Must be the post in your area. I get PS1 and audio CDs sent in bubble packs here in the US all the time and usually everything is fine. Occasionally someone drops one in transit and I have to replace a case, but as long as it's a standard one I just take it in stride as a case is cheaper than paying more for priority shipping in a box.
I think it has more to do with the fact that it was shipped via air mail so airport crew + customs = oh shit

Well, the PS1 had a definite edge in 3D, but it was mostly inferior in 2D games.

I've debated this before with people and just don't see it - to me it seems each platform got a pretty equal share of superior 2D ports.

As of right now, my RPGs for the PS1 include:
Grandia
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy IX
The Granstream Saga
and a couple others I can't remember right now. [I'm away from my collection as of now]

The RPGs I hope to get:
Tales of Destiny
Tales of Eternia [Destiny 2]
Star Ocean: The Second Story
Xenogears
Suikoden
Suikoden 2
Final Fantasy VIII
Chrono Cross
Breath of Fire 3
Vandal Hearts
Threads of Fate
Valkyrie Profile
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona

Yeah... I've got a ways to go. My wallet is begging for mercy.

Add 'Legend of Mana' to your list. It's a great action-RPG that is insanely vibrant, random, and fun.

Other games that defined my PSX experience:

Megaman Legends
Misadventures of Tron Bonne
The Megaman X series (4-6)
The original Armored Core trilogy (the high point of the series)
Front Mission 3
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Thanks for the heads-up; I forgot about Tron Bonne; I always wanted that game. I'll keep an eye out for Legend of Mana, too.
