Tonight's idea: something small
One of the things that made the auction great last year was that we had lots of people getting involved by donating just one or two items. Perhaps you have a loose Genesis cart, a duplicate GBA game, a loose UMD, a cool DS stylus, or a dog-eared strategy guide. Maybe you have an old VHS tape, a CD by a band you no longer like, or an extra sci-fi novel. Donating just one or two things helps immensely - if 10 people do this we can easily raise $100 or more from the 10-20 items we might accumulate. Remember, this is a community effort - so if you consider yourself a part of what we do here, please consider donating something, even if it is small.
CALL FOR DONATIONS- 2010 CHARITY AUCTION
Re: **4 DAYS LEFT** CALL FOR DONATIONS- 2010 CHARITY AUCTION
It has been great to see the response to these nightly ideas in the form of more donations. There are 5-10 people who have pledged some items that I am still waiting to hear from, and many more that I hope will be able to contribute at least something before Sunday night.
Tonight's idea: sacrifice
Ok, this is a tough one.
You might consider giving up something that you wouldn't "ever" consider giving up. That pricey shmup. That CIB SNES RPG. That sweet arcade stick. That LE signed item.
Hear me out.
The reason why I really enjoy working on this auction is because I sincerely believe that we have a great community here that can come together to help others in need. The kids who benefit from Make-A-Wish really do deserve our support, and often the most meaningful support comes from sacrificing something that is personally meaningful in order to help someone else.
Many of us have posted about our rarest, most loved, or showpiece items from our collection. But how many would consider parting with that item to help grant a dying child their last wish? Is your copy of Border Down worth more to you than it would be to Make-A-Wish? Is your copy of FF7 gathering dust on the shelf worth keeping there instead of going to raise money for this charity?
Sacrifice can feel great and make your donation seem much more meaningful to you personally. It is hard to do, but that is kind of the point. So consider parting with that rare or valuable game/accessory/etc., and you may find that you come to value the wonderful feeling of sacrifice more than you ever valued the item itself.

Re: **3 DAYS LEFT** CALL FOR DONATIONS- 2010 CHARITY AUCTION
PM'd my list. Let's make this thing even more successful this year. If you can afford to have a pc and internet I'm sure you can afford to part with at least 1 game. This is for sick kids.
Donate some cool stuff so I can bid on it!

Re: **3 DAYS LEFT** CALL FOR DONATIONS- 2010 CHARITY AUCTION
Tonight's idea: other media
Last year we moved a fair assortment of DVDs, CDs, books, guides, and other print materials - not all were game related. Have you upgraded some DVDs to Blu-Ray or have a few CDs that you never listen to anymore? Do you have a few books lying around that you've finished or never intend to use? These also make great auction fodder, and can all ship media mail once the auction is over (cheap!). So survey your non-game related media and see what you can come up with - and send me that list!

Re: ****FINAL DAY**** CALL FOR DONATIONS- 2010 CHARITY AUCTION
This is it! Sunday is the last day I can accept donations to get into the auction when it begins on Dec. 1.
Today's idea: fill in the gaps
A few days ago I reported that we needed more games for some systems, and many of you rose to the challenge! However, some systems are still vastly underrepresented in the auction and even if you have 1-2 games to donate, you could help make a big difference.
As of yesterday afternoon, here's where we stood for most of the major systems (doesn't include games bundled with systems):
Intellivision/Colecovision/2600/5200 - 0 games
Odyssey2 - 4 games
NES - 1 game
SMS/7800 - 0 games
TG16/PCE/PCE-CD - 0 games
Genesis - 10 games
32X/Sega CD - 0 games
SNES - 3 games
N64 - 14 games
Saturn - 20 games
PS1 - 22 games
DC - 10 games
PS2 - 4 games
GCN - 4 games
XBX - 0 games
360- 0 games
PS3 - 3 games
Wii - 2 games
GB/GBC - 8 games
NGPC - 3 games
PSP/DS/other handhelds - 0 games
PC/MAC - ~15 games
As you can see, there are some systems well represented and some that could use some bigger numbers. On the last day of the donation period - tomorrow - please consider helping us flesh out these totals!
Thanks to everyone who has chipped in so far. I hope to hear from many more of you tomorrow
