Television with Built in NES - Found Controllers For It

Post by christoph »

Buddy of mine picked this up randomly locally, the controllers only, no unit. From the brief research I did, It looks like there was around only 200 of these units produced? These as rare as it looks like?

(not my pic, just found the controllers)

SHARP 19SV111 it the first television with built-in NES, released in November 1989. These models were sold at Sears and Kmart. It is an officially Nintendo television that also includes all the capabilities of the original system itself, including the 'Power' and 'Reset' buttons, two controller jacks and a Game Pak port. Production was discontinued in January, 1990 (most likely due to unfavorable sales).
An estimated 200 units were made, but it is unknown how many still exist because many were thrown away once the Nintendo Entertaiment System was outdated.
Looks like these only were on sale for 2 months for first run, and then 1-2 months for second run..

I'm pretty sure somebody on here has one of those television units. They found it at a goodwill or something and bought it and then posted on here they didn't buy it. I'm not sure, I think they were playing some joke on us that no one got, but in the end they really bought it? Yeah, I know that doesn't make much sense, it didn't at the time either. Either way, they might be interested in buying them from you.

If my memory hasn't please insert girder, some one on RB did buy it from another forum member. In fact, I think they drove a few states to pick it up.

back in 1993 my neighbor had one, I really dont know how he got it, but he let me borrow it once.

it had the blinkies!

took me a long time to make it work, but me being 11 and blowing and jiggling the cart finally made it work.

from what I remember its all pretty much one piece, so it would be like taking a TV apart!

Those are some pretty rad controllers. Love the design. It'd be cool to paint an NES to match them.

There's one at the local flea market type shop here. I forget how much the guy's asked for it, but it's peaked my interest ever since I first saw it. What's a good price on it you guys think?
