I have Gameshark 4.0 (it's the version with just the disc) and it does work on PS2 fat, but doesn't work that well. I found that with some codes, the game would not load up or the code would not have any effect. Then I used the same codes on a PS1 and they work perfectly. So it's better to use a PS1 for cheat discs.
I don't think it works on PS2 slim.

I have a PS1 laying around somewhere, guess I'll find what device is best for it and use that instead.

Any recommendations for the best PS1 cheat device? I think there is GameShark, Action Replay, and Code Breaker.

Eventually picked up a GameShark CDX 4.0 off of eBay. The device works on my PS2 slim with codes enabled so turned out good
