Loading Rom On V64

Post by lisalover1 »

I just got a power adapter for my V64 backup unit, but I'm still a bit confused on how to use it. I plugged all the necessary AV cables into their proper Input/Output ports on the unit, and I am able to successfully load an N64 rom into the device's RAM, but I don't know what to do from there. It says after loading that the game is ready to play, but whenever I turn on my N64 while the V64 is also on, the V64 stops outputting video. I do have the Save Data Cartridge in the cartridge slot of my N64, so it should be working. Also, I should note that no video or audio is outputted by my N64 when it is plugged into the V64, even when the V64 is turned off, which it should. Does anybody with experience using this unit know how to play a game with it?

If you can't get it working after reading that thread reply back or send me a PM, I have a whole working unit that I can test myself and give you the details. I don't remember exactly atm but I can do it tomorrow.

It would be cool if you were able to make a youtube video to walk through the process of running 1 or 2 roms. There's very few youtube vids on V64 and they just show the unit & accesories.

Just to clarify, this is the kind of setup I have; with the DX 256 cart, except I have a x26 CD drive: Image
I tried connecting my N64 to a different AV port than the one being used by the V64, but it still just gives me a blank "no input" screen.

I don't see it in your setup as it would go under the save device if I remember correctly and it's required for some reason. I'm going to get mine out today and give it a run.

No I don't, but I thought the save cartridge would work. Anyways, that one is sold out, so even if that was the problem, I'm out of luck.

The DX 256 is just used to save 4kit eeproms, so you need the boot adapter for the V64 to work or the DS-1 cart which doubles as one too. And even though it`s sold out contact Frankie(the person that runs Gamedoctorhk), he`ll try to help you out in finding one or you could put a WTB on the tototek forums.
