But consoles are not as popular there as they used to be, right? I reckon the DS and the PSP seem to be overwhelmingly more popular than home systems. What do you think?

PSP and the DS annihilate any home system as far as popularity and sales over there.
There is no comparison.

Gundam Senki UC 0081. Just about no chance of a localization due to the utter failure of crossfire, though 0081 is what Crossfire should have been were it not rushed and practically unfinished.

The missions are pretty straightforward and gamefaqs has a walkthrough that tells you what you need to do in each mission.

A lot of the menus are in english, though all of the dialogue and cut scenes are in Japanese.

There are some good 2D fighters on the Japanese PSN, like the original Guilty Gear and some KOF. Hokuto Musou and Musou Orochi Z are great 3D beat em up games if you like the Dynasty Warriors series at all, although Hokuto Musou will get a US release this November. You can get Red Seeds Profile for PS3 by importing it, and all the voice acting and much of the menus are in English. It's a very bizarre survival horror/mystery game, pretty fun though with an interesting story. Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan is probably my favorite import PS3 game, it's part of the Yakuza series but set in the Edo period of Japan with the same characters. It's a great hack and slash/RPG. Another Century's Episode:R will be released in a few days (at a very high price) if you're into giant mechs, giant mech anime, or the SRW series at all. It's like a very fast paced and less tedious menu heavy Armored Core. It is highly unlikely that any of these games will be released in the US (other than Hokuto Musou as mentioned, and Red Seeds Profile for X360 as Deadly Premonition).

About fighting games, does anyone know if there are plans to make Arcana Heart 3 or a new Melty Blood for PS3? I really like them on the PS2 and would love to see HD versions.
The Initial D game was one of the first games i got when I got my PS3. Its basicly the console version of Initial D ver 4. I will say this, the gameplay and driving style is way different than ver 1-3, Sega redid that game to make it more realistic, which is kinda good and bad in a way, but its still fun.

My other import is Gundam battlefield record uc 0081. Its basicly Gundam Crossfire DONE RIGHT!!!! You can custom you mobile suit in free mission mode with whatever weapon or suit you want (in mercenary mode, you can attach a gelgoog beam rifle, a gundam shield all to a zaku 2 if you wanted to). I happen to really enjoy that game, and it helps that im a Gundam fan to boot.

Plus, im waiting for Fist of the North Star: Kens Rage to come to the states, but if not ill import that. :D

I heard from one of the localization directors for the Suikoden series at Konami that it was decided that the translation was pretty bad for the original PS1 release, and because of that, they felt too ashamed to re-release it. Odd reasoning, but at least they said something.

I never felt that from what I've played and Suikoden 1 wasn't that bad as well.. And even then, they should recognize that it's one of the better PS1 games, so why not release it? They released SOTN and that has some translation errors as well..

I'm just telling you what I heard. I'm with you, though; they should release it on PSN, if for nothing else, its current rarity and price in original form.
