Re: Replaced Sega Saturn battery and still having issues
So I have an interesting update...it still wont hold the time or language but it will save my game of megaman x4? I even unplugged the console and the save file is still in there but i still have to reset the time everytime I start the console. Any takes on this one because I am completely baffled lol!

Hmm, maybe there's a memory chip for the time and date and separate memory for game saves? If so, the time and date memory could be shot but the game save memory still works.

I'll keep an eye on it for the next couple days and see if it continues to hold the data.Ziggy587 wrote:Hmm, maybe there's a memory chip for the time and date and separate memory for game saves? If so, the time and date memory could be shot but the game save memory still works.

So you swapped out the motherboards and your still having issues? Is there any other boards (ive not opened up a saturn in a while i cant remember) you could swap out? Maybe the replacement motherboards along with your motherboard is both bad.
Re: Replaced Sega Saturn battery and still having issues
I don't think he replaced the motherboard yet. If I fully understand what he's saying, the set system time kept popping up every time he turned the console on (even with a new battery) but then found out that it's holding a game save.

Re: Replaced Sega Saturn battery and still having issues
As of right now I have not received the new mother board yet, it will be about a week or so since I live in Alaska. As for the current motherboard, it will not save the time or language but it will hold save files. Its been a few days since my last update and its still holding the save files just fine.

Ok so heres the update, just got my replacement motherboard in the mail today and I just did the swap, I had a little issue with disc tray trigger but it was a quick fix, now everything is working like a champ! No more setting time or language for this guy
I can finally play my megaman x4 in peace and harmony

Re: Replaced Sega Saturn battery and still having issues
The issue was with part of the memory in the Sega Saturn not holding the time and language but it would hold game saves. After doing countless hours of research on the internet I found that no one else has ever had this issue with there Saturn. So the cause of the memory issue is still unknown at this time and the only solution was to swap the motherboard which fixes my problem.emwearz wrote:Nice to hear you solved your problem, wish we knew what it was (for future reference).

Well, glad it's working for you now. Are you in a dry area with static issues? Maybe it got zapped.
