So you think if I use a USB keyboard this may fix the problem?
I always thought is was something in Window's settings that messed up after too many keys were pressed at once or in a short time... Ill try the USB keyboard.
Agree since the regular Keyboard is piggybacking into the HotRod, there is the problem. USB keyboard should work but not a 100% positive depending on your system resources. You could also get one of those driver free Y-Keys which is completely transparent to the PC, great for DOS Mame as well. Other option is a KVM or a mechanical non-USB powered switchbox. See my Arcade Mod link in the previous reply.
So is the HotRod a Dual Two player stick? Try that TAB Menu for Robotron.
SpaceBooger wrote:Yeah, the HotRod is a dual stick. I have used it for SmashTV and will try Robotron. Thanks for the suggestions guys and keep them coming!
*note for some reason my DonDonPachi rom wont work, so I'm updating my set from UG as we speak.
The never ending battle of latest Mame and Checksums.
Be sure to list out by controller type in the left column. Some real gems to discover!

Wow this thread got off track... anyway:
I have never used clrmame and have always just copied newer roms over the old ones, and I remember you helping me with an sfiii issue but I never fixed it.
So I ran a scan and fix using my mameUI and the changes never happened.
So now I renamed my roms folder to "roms2" created a new empty "roms" folder and am using the "roms2" folder to rebuild using the default settings.
Am I wasting my time or is this a good thing?

I use Atomicfe on mine. It's really easy to set up and the creator is very helpful on his site. I think Crt is on the right track about the keyboard issue. Here are a few more titles.
Journey
Lock and Chase
Mappy
NBA Jam
Pang
Paperboy
Punchout and Super Punchout
Tecmo bowl
The Simpsons
WWF Wrestefest
Bombjack
Mr. Do
Crush Roller

There are programs that can update your Roms, but may not catch every single game. I worry more of the program killing a good working game. The time consuming reliable way is re download Roms which have a bad checksum.
I hate downloading a newer Mame, and then losing a game thru a bad checksum.
Best to keep the default ROMS folder and configure Mame to look for that.
You may have to sign up for the forum, I'm not sure. Even if you do it's definitely worth it!
Lately I've just been playing some shmups on mame like DoDonPachi and other Cave shooters. I've also broken out the Puzzle Bobble....damn that game is too addictive.
Ok got everything updated and usb keyboard. So we will see.
As for the suggestion I tried to boot up Robotron but got a "factory settings reset" message and it stayed. I have noticed this about some roms too (NARC being one)
Anyway I played SmashTV instead.
I also played Dondonpaci and couldn't believe how much harder it gets. The 4th or 5th level I started to have to use the bomb to clear away enemy fire so that I could survive.
Good suggestions, thanks! Keep them coming!
