Troubles for the long winded racketboy poster

Post by J T »

Sometimes I am, shall we say, verbose. On this forum though, when my post starts to get long and reaches the bottom of the text box for a new post, it starts to do this weird thing where it scrolls back up to the top of the text with each new letter I type, so I can't see what the hell I'm typing any more. Does this happen to others and does anyone have a solution?

I use Netscape. Do you think that might be the problem?

Just kidding. I use Internet Explorer 8 mostly, and sometimes Firefox. I know the problem occurs in IE 8, but I don't know if it does on Firefox.

I suggest writing your long post in notepad/textpad/emacs and then copy/pasting it. If the forums screw up, you don't lose your work.

I use chrome and don't have that issue. I don't write too many long posts, but my posts in the games beaten 2010 thread are normally close to 75 lines or so , as there's at least 60ish for my list of games i've beaten.

I use Firefox in Linux and WinXP and don't experience the problem. I consider myself to be one of the more text-heavy posters on the forum.

That is strange. I just tried a test Reply holding down RETURN key for a while and typing a few words. The new composed text stayed at the bottom of the Edit box.

Maybe it is your long eloquent and entertaining writing, as my Dad says, "Another Wordsmith". :D

Agree maybe something in your browser, an Auto Fill routine or something. Any update you could install? Or another browser such as Firefox and see if the problem goes away? I used Safari in my old iMac for the test. I have Firefox as a supplement for full sub-folder Web page saves, but built in Safari seems faster for regular browsing.

I haven't had the issue with Firefox, though I haven't had a post that fills my screen in quite a while. I would recommend trying Firefox even if you just paste something a bunch of times to test then type past the bottom of the box to see if it still does it even if it isn't something you post.
