Anyone with a model 1 manual to confirm the proper usage of the button? Replacement Docs only has a model 2 manual.

I looked at the manual for my Asian model 1. It says to unplug the power cord and press the Master Reset Button if any problems can't be solved.

I've been meaning to get a saturn memory card forever. Mine has the same issue, although I haven't made a very big effort to figure it out. I've heard if you even unplug the system the save files get lost.

I don't really have any saturn games that I really need saving for though. It'd be nice for Nights I guess. When I eventually pick up beyond oasis or something I'll have to get a memory card. Isn't there an action replay or something sold on racketboy that saves games?

Racketboy sells ram carts no memory carts, and I should know in a week if the motherboard swap will solve my problem because I got megaman x4 coming in the mail and I wanna play it bad.

Just wanted to give you some info for when you decide to finally get a memory card. If you get a Pro Action Replay, you cannot save to it from within the game. The only way you can use it to save games is to move saves onto it from the system menu. So if you're gonna use it to store saves because you're system can't, you'd have to first save to your system then before you shut the system off you'll have to move the saves to the cart. Likewise, when you turn the system back on you'll have to move the save from the cart back to the system so you can load the save in the game. Games do not see the PAR as a memory card.

Though the 4-in-1 PAR is still definitely worth getting. But you'll really want an actual memory card for saves.

So with an actual memory card, you just leave it in the slot and you can save directly to it? None of this copying back and forth to system memory?

Yes, that's correct. At least with most, and with an official one of course. I'd make sure you get an official one too, as third party ones can be notorious for corrupting. Not only that, but the Cartridge slot in the Saturn is fairly dodgy and un-official cartridgess can wear out the slots quickly.

A Saturn memory cartridge can save 8000 blocks I think, which is enough for literally loads of games. You'd have to be a real collector to ever need more than 1 (or 2 at a push).

I have an official memory cart and the Action Replay 4 in 1. Both are great, but using the AR for saves can get pretty annoying, so I would recommend both as well.

Exactly, Reprise hit the nail on the head with everything. Definitely go for a 1rst party memory card. And like I said, the PAR is great to have as well. But definitely stay away from the GameShark. I know first hand that I WILL wreck your cart slot pretty easily.
