I'm considering buying one of those PS3 USB loader that allow you to play backup games right from the hardware. I have a few questions.
1. What are these called exactly? best place to buy one? I've come across the oirignal $150 ones, and then this: http://www.r4king.com/ps-jailbreak-modc ... _p720.html, Is that all I need?
2. Is it still PSN safe or do you need to be on a system where you do not update the firmware?
3. How does it affect load times, particularly in huge long load time games like Fallout New Vegas or Oblivion?
4. I've seen various PS3 isos online since the jailbreak came out. How does one transfer those files to the harddrive of the PS3?
thanks.

Re: PS3 Jailbreak questions
I haven't been paying attention since when it first came out, but I'll tell you what I know. The jailbreaking software has been ported to alot of devices that you may already own. Even calculators! You need to make sure your ps3 never goes online because it got patched out and you may already have the new firmware and I don't think its downgradable if you've been online recently. Playing games off an external hard drive is actually faster than reading off discs and preferred atleast by me and everyone else who has the choice to do so. Basically the external is going to work like a flash drive, you just plug it in and put the game on there. It's simple really.
Check if you have any of these devices here

You can also put it on some TI calculators, Arduino Duemanilove and Teensy development boards. Basically anything that uses an ATmega and supports USB mode works with PSGroove.Nullface wrote:I haven't been paying attention since when it first came out, but I'll tell you what I know. I have one of these and it works perfectly.
You must have firmware 3.41 or below for the exploit to work, anything higher than that and you're screwed until somebody figures out a work around, or another exploit.

Thanks, but I don't have any of those devices! Any idea where I could buy a dongle that would allow me to do this?
So all I would need to do is download the program and put it on that and it would work? Any idea where I can buy that and how much it costs?Niode wrote:You can also put it on some TI calculators, Arduino Duemanilove and Teensy development boards. Re: PS3 Jailbreak questions
Apparently there is a PS3 Jailbreak downgrader program out now. It only works for the original jailbreak but will probably get ported to the other devices. This lets you go from 3.50 to 3.41.

Well , I recommend E3 Carder reader . you can use their own firmwares, or just drop any already PSGroov complied hex in if you can't wait for updates, or you want to test your own changes out.
The price is really competitive , Lightake is offering this for $19.99 + free shipping.
