Shipping from Japan to US over 16 ounces BANNED

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Maybe there's a way to ship it to South Korea or something, then to the U.S.?

Someone could make a killing on that.

You'd be hit double for shipping. EMS isn't much cheaper to Korea, if I remember correctly. Shipping FROM Korea wasn't too bad, though... at least when I was there in '05-'06.

I was just considering importing up some new games and figures, too - and it's very hard to limit myself to just one or two at a time. I save so much when I bundle together.

I still have a hard time believing this actually happened. I hope they realize the error of their ways soon - or at the very least, I hope another shipping company ends up replacing J-Post as the de facto shipping company for imports.

I wonder if express delivery services based in Japan like Yamato, Sagawa, and Pelican that have contracts with UPS/DHL and FedEX Express will pick up the slack and offer more appealing rates...nawwww we're screwed for the time being on medium to large sized shipments. It's total crud. :(

I'll keep you all updated on the situation if any new info surfaces. I watch the news nightly here and visit the Japanese post website fairly often for tracking domestically shipped items anyway. Honestly, I doubt much will be mentioned on the national news here as it doesn't effect most Japanese anyway. Hopefully this nonsense blows over soon.

Reason I ask is because they offer means of contacting them about inquiries concerning international mail, but they apparently don't allow international calls. Would someone please contact them to inquire about the delay and try to get some info on it? Any information would be beneficial.

The number is 0120-5931-55 for their Customer Service Center. Apparently the phone number for English is 0570-046-111.
Well the problem with this is that people here do stuff simply because they are told to do so... and blindly. It is a very black & white country. Even if you call and ask why, most of the time no one will be able to give you an answer that actually makes sense. The word "why" is futile here.
That and when stuff is "decided" here, it takes decades to change. There is a reason that sometimes I get tired of the bureaucracy here. Then again, sushi is cheap n good. Meh~ Same shit, different day.

Yeah, this is BS. So much for my idea to import a PC engine this year =\

Good thing I already imported all the current gen consoles. This does not bode well for next gen however if this is still in effect then.
