The Dreamcast Is Loosing My Respect

Post by The Apprentice »

Today I hit the local pawn shop up for Dreamcast stuff. I picked up Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (which I found out was missing the disk AFTER I got home) and Sega GT. When I got the game I thought "Finally! A good DC racing game!" It even has my favorite car, the twin turbo Nissan 300ZX 2 seater. I got it home and tried it out and felt... slapped. The game is terrible, adding yet another tital to my growing list of DC duds.

I'm tired of this. If I pick up one more game that people online give 8/10 and it sucks, I'm selling the thing.

lol that sucks. those aren't exactly the best games on the DC anyway though so you shouldnt get too worked up over it. there are plenty of great DC games, if you like RPGs you should try skies of arcadia or shenmue or for fighters there area ton of great games like soulcalibur (a must have, it is fucking great) marvel vs capcom 1 and 2 (2 is expensive, just burn a copy :P) and jojo's bizarre adventure. house of the dead 2 is a fun lightgun game with hilariously bad voice acting... these are just a couple of awesome titles. you really should look around more :P sometimes great games can be had dirt cheap if you know where to look or if you wanna go about it the not so legal way there are many torrent sites that let you get selfbooting DC games you can burn and play in an unmodded dreamcast. trust me, you'd regret selling the dreamcast.
need console mods or repairs? check my thread here:

Sega GT was a poor man's (or Sega owner's) Gran Turismo.
It was "ok" back in the day, but now there are many racers you are better off with on the Dreamcast.

I hate all traditional racers, so I can't help much here, but Re-Volt is fun. Try that.

Oh man, I'll second that. I got it for $7 recently so I wasn't expecting a whole lot but it is pretty fun. It really shines in the multiplayer mode. My buddy and I played it for hours a couple of weeks ago. His 10 year old mopped the floor with us though and he'd never played it before!

Who gave Swega GT an 8/10? All the reviews I remember of it were more like fives.

Same here. I remember avoiding it due to some reviews I had seen back in the day (also the fact that I had Gran Turismo for the PSX at the time turned me off)

Even Gamespot gave it 7.3

I third Re-Volt. My friend had a DC and the only good game he had was Re-Volt. In MP, we had so much fun racing each other with those RC Cars. :P

I recommend Re-Volt whenever I can. I have it on just about all my Dreamcast lists :)
