Yet Another VGA Adapter Post

Hiya, picked up one of Racketboy's VGA/SVideo adapters with the intent of hooking it up to my handy-dandy shiny new LG 42" TV with a VGA input. Only kicker is, I'm not getting any video to the TV, just sound. I am using a known-working DB-15 VGA cable. S-Video output seems to work. Haven't been able to connect a regular CRT monitor to it (all monitors in the house are DVI or built-in iMac stuff).

I saw a post referencing some kind of trick to do with the switch. I tried booting the DC witht he switch set to SVideo, then once I heard the DC boot beep, switch to VGA, but no signal. My TV reports "Invalid Format." Not expecting support on my TV, but just wondering if there is anything else to try. Thanks again and I look forward to playing some Tech Romancer and Power Stone on my new toy!

EDIT: URL removal, formatting oopsie.

For one thing, you have to have it switched to VGA before the Dreamcast is turned on.
You can't switch modes while the machine is running.

The switch is turned to PC mode, but no video. I'll see if I can borrow a neighbor's monitor to test. Can't wait!

Edit: I am assuming the VGA box outputs at 640x480 correct? The TV does have an option to specify a resolution, but it looks like it will only pop up for a supported resolution form the device. Literature does say that 640x480 is supported.

yeah, that resolution in correct.
If it absolutely doesn't work, I'd be glad to replace it.
If you could try it on another display, that would help :)

No monitor test yet, but I bought a VGA>Component cable on eBay for like $6 shipped. I've read in different TV forums that this will sometimes do the trick for TVs that don't want to display that resolution on the VGA port, even though it does support it, according to manual. We'll see.

I bought the box in November, but didn't get to try it until late December as the TV was backordered, so thanks for offering to replace it. I'll let you know.

Well, I can almost guarantee that the VGA-to-component cable won't work.
I've tried those before...

just plug it into your computer monitor and it should work. I've seen alot of people having problems getting VGA adapters working on their HD screens. It's just that the TV doesn't support it.
