What are the best Gba and DS games to import?

Post by swiftzx »

I've been looking into the import scene for these handhelds for the past week and have been interested in some of the best games that never left Japan. I already own Jump Super Stars and planning to pick up Ouendan 2 ;) Are there any other games worth picking up?

P.S (I Want Star Soldier for GBA  )

How about the starfy games for GBA? Fire Emblem 6?

Personally I want Chibi Robo 3, but i can imagine it being pretty hard to comprehend in japanese.

Mother 3 if you can read the text, otherwise just get the patch and run your emulator. Daigasso! Band Brothers is a fun rhythm game for the DS that includes a song maker using the in-game midi engine.

I've played Ketsui Death Label and enjoyed it. Are the starfy games text heavy?

i don't think ketsui works well on the ds… the fact that it has only a boss rush mode isn't so fun, i think also the ds d-pad is the worst i've ever used for shmups.
and last but not least it's really overpriced.

i think nice gba imports are:
1° koro koro puzzle: happy panechu! -
2° guru logi champ - another puzzle game made by compile -
3° kururin paradise - another puzzle game made by 8ing-rizing-wtf
4° fire emblem 6 - this version is incredible with lots and lots of characters

as far as GBA goes...

bit Generations (series) - really awesome and artful "simple" games.
Famicom Mini (series) - the Japanese version of our NES Classics series in the US, which actually had a lot of games not released here (Kid Icarus, Adventure Island, etc).
Hudson Best (series) - like you'd guess, Hudson games such as Adventure Island 1-3, various shooters, etc. A bit tough to get hold of these though.
Darius R - it's a Darius revision man!
Mother 1+2 and Mother 3 - if you can read Japanese, or plan to use a guide.

I'll keep trying to thing of others that I'd highly recommend.

Adding to Noise's GBA list-

Lode Runner- cat-and-mouse puzzle game where you trap the people chasing you and get gold.
Densetsu no Starfy 1/2/3/- not text-heavy at all.
Rhythm Tengoku- prequel to Rhythm Heaven
Two Ganbare Goemon games- platformer, second has giant robot fights.
Metalgun Slinger- Wild West platformer action

I only have the first, which is actually fairly text-y, but its just story and tutorial filler mainly, its a pretty simple platformer to figure out.
