The Game Case Seal: Xbox equivalent of spine cards?

Post by Ducky »

This has been something I've been wondering for a while. What do you think of the case seals on Xbox games? Frankly, I cringe when I see people literally TEARING them off the cases in unboxing videos. Even though they make it that little bit tricker to get your thumbs into opening the cases, one without it just feels incomplete to me!

What do you guys think?

The one problem I see with them is the adhesive. I worked in a game store for 5 years and I can tell you that even ones that came from pretty decent homes here barf worthy. Maybe I am pick but the random hair jutting out of them made me and to throw the whole game away.

I used to keep the top label seals from audio CDs. My old monitor was decorated with them. But now I just carefully remove all disc case seals and break out the contact cleaner if any glue gets left behind so the cases are clean.

I dunno. But regarding Xbox game cases... I put all my Xbox 360 games in standard black DVD cases, and then use the see-through green 360 game cases for my original Xbox games. 8)

I absolutely HATED the snot green cases for the original Xbox games. The 360's are slightly better

Game seals just suck and should not even be associated with spine cards/OBI. At least spine cards told you more information about the game or just had some cool artwork.

Well, then. It seems as though I'm the only one who holds any regards for them then. I just figured it'd make games that bit more complete but it's evident here that the feeling is by no means mutual, haha! Interesting.

Woah, man! Didn't mean to get up your nose about it.

That's pretty interesting! Personally, I don't think I could ever switch up the cases like that. It wouldn't seem right to me. I can tolerate the colour, though.

Me neither, I've never had an issue with the Original Xbox's case color.

Kind of related maybe.

If I can pull the top DVD movie seal off in one piece, I stick it inside where the liner notes go. In this day of no liner notes at least something is in that spot.

Bah! All the fluff on the cardboard sleeve and no book inside! :x

EDIT
Okay Niode, does it too below, I don't feel so OCD now. :D

You're not the only one. I remove those seals extremely carefully. All my 360 games have them.

Now see, what would be best? I never gave these seals much thought, so would it be good just to slice it down the middle so I can still open the case or just peeling it so it's in the case?
I don't really think it's worth it in all honesty but just the novelty of it seems fun to keep.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)
