But of all tes games Daggerfall is the best in my opinion..might not look so good now but i cant count the hours i spent playing that one.

You should be able to one hit kill those annoying birds late in the game no?

Daggerfall was great. Some completely CRAZY dungeons there though, some of them bugged as well
Amazingly wacky end game: how the heck do you finish the last dungeon without a walkthrough???

I have one of those scary game experiences with the Ghost in Daggerfall, but there is an even funnier by one of the coders of Morrowind. I'll see if I can find it...

EDIT: Here it is. I can imagine how that must have felt, as I had a similar one getting to town after hours, levitating over the wall, heading to the tavern and then suddenly VENGEANCE!!!

well yeah the cliff racers werent really a challenge but annoying to have them pop up all the time while wandering around looking for a entrance to a dungeon.

ah and the ghost in daggerfall..i always made sure never to wander around daggerfall at night and if i had to i made sure to run as fast as i could..or use the horse..and the dungeons could be very confusing and at times simply too big.

I continued my stealth character in Oblivion recently. Just finished the Knights of the Nine. That was pretty good. I also finished the 7 official mini-mods. Now all I got to finish is the Mages Guild, and I am ready to move onto Shivering Isles for a long while.

I hated oblivion because it's pointless to level up or acquire new gear. Why? Because the npc characters level with you. So the only point to the game is beat it at level 1.

So what I did was download a ton of mods, and one of them fixes the leveling system so that each area has monsters with varying levels, and they remain that level for the entire game. I like finding new equipment and stuff in a game and then equipping my character. It's fun to beat a super-hard guy and then get his gear and use it. But it's pointless if all existing enemies wear the same crap you already have until you "level up" at which point "different" npcs replace the lower level guys. This just totally ruined the game for me.

Well I think Morrowind is way more pc-player orientated. Designed as the last true old school RPG, in line with some Might & Magic titles or even some of the ultima series.

Hard though games.

Oblivion tries to follow this pattern but is more orientated to console type players. The game is easier and you don't really need to put a lot of effort to be able to finish it or discover stuff..

They are both great but I think they are orientated for different kind of gamers.

:)

I loved it. Played it for a while, was my ex-roommate's PS3 though, so no way to play it anymore.

How did I miss a TES topic? I am a fan from way back in the Arena days. Countless hours wasted in Arena, Redguard, Daggerfall, and Morrowind (dont have a Ngage but I have TravelKey). I have Battlespire but thats not really an Elderscrolls game. Now Oblivion is a touchy subject. I feel they changed to much. Quick travel and psychic guards almost made me quit the game early on. The fact that all of the items I stole from a villager I just killed were red flagged in a city across the world is exactly what got me to quit. Maybe 20 hours in and that was enough. Now I know mods have changed all of that, and maybe I will give it another shot in the spring, but for now I still think it is the weakest of the series.

With the right mods, just about all your points are moot. Oblivion, modded-up, is one of the better Western RPGs out there, in my humble opinion. The only thing it lacks is a really memorable gameworld, like Morrowind.

I played the game for an hour and just got bored with it. Granted, you can't judge a game on one hour of play so I'll admit that. I don't know. I already got the whole freedom to do what you want fix from the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games and Jade Empire. Somehow, those games quickly drew me in while Oblivion just had me snoozing. I may try and give it another go one of these days, but I just can't see myself making time for a game that huge any time soon, and Mass Effect has more of my interest given that I already know I can count on Bioware for quality.

Eh, a game shouldnt need mods to make it good. Patches maybe, mods no. I know they have fixed them, but I dont have the time for that one right now. It cant run on the laptop I am borrowing so I cannot play it at lunch. Looks like its back to Darklands for me.
