Y'know, I'm incredibly late to this party, but I'd like to weigh in my thoughts on the original topic.
With the Genesis/Sega CD/32X you have...
After Burner Complete, Alien Soldier, Android Assault: The Revenge of Bari-Arm, Beyond Oasis, Comix Zone, Dark Wizard, Ecco the Dolphin, Ecco the Dolphin: The Tides of Time, Eliminate Down, Eternal Champions: Challengers from the Dark Side, GleyLancer, Gunstar Heroes, Herzog Zwei, Lunar: Silver Star, Lunar: Eternal Blue, Monster World IV, M.U.S.H.A., Panorama Cotton, Phantasy Star II, Phantasy Star IV, Popful Mail, Pulseman, Ranger-X, Ristar, Robo Aleste, Rocket Knight Adventures, Shining Force, Shining Force II, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Snatcher, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Space Harrier, Streets of Rage 2, Streets of Rage 3, Super Fantasy Zone, Thunder Force III, Thunder Force IV, ToeJam & Earl, Vectorman, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Racing Deluxe, Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyo Toitsusen
I would consider every one of those games to be masterful in craft, have held up considerably well, and don't have any direct parallels on the Super Nintendo (like Contra, Castlevania, and Earthworm Jim, for instance). And I mean, alot of things come down to personal preference, obviously... but while there are alot of timeless games on the Super Nintendo (Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound, Axelay, Turtles in Time, Yoshi's Island... Donkey Kong Country and Starfox, although I think those games are immensely overrated) that stand up to these games in a manner of speaking, I don't really think that they SURPASS such a ridiculously plentiful and well-rounded library.
They're both incredible systems, and to try and declare an objective winner is absolute foolishness.

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
Wait, I thought this was Genesis vs. SNES, not Genesis/SCD/32X vs SNES. Can I include Gameboy games with the SNES because it had the Super Gameboy to play them?Original_Name wrote:Y'know, I'm incredibly late to this party, but I'd like to weigh in my thoughts on the original topic.

Hm, I suppose that is a pretty big can of worms. Earlier in the thread they were saying that it was acceptable to include CD/32X since so many SNES games ran using extra chips and whatnot. Haha, maybe we could pit the Gameboy against the Master System via Power Base Converter?

To me that would be like putting Starfox vs Virtua Racing, Super Gameboy vs Power Base Convertor as you said, or the modem add ons I'm too lazy to look up the names at the moment.Original_Name wrote:Hm, I suppose that is a pretty big can of worms. Why does it matter that it's in color when it dies after an hour and doesn't fit in my pocket?Para wrote:Game Boy vs Game Gear /discuss

Re: Sega Genesis vs. SNES!?
Because you can plug it into a wall and recharge the battery, plus I guess you're just not HARDCORE enough to carry it around in the awesome travel case. Wow, go play Barbie Horse Adventures while us REAL GAMERS play Fantasy Zone Gear, Ack.

I like to go places where I don't have to spend all my time next to a wall socket charging that black behemoth.Original_Name wrote:Because you can plug it into a wall and recharge the battery, plus I guess you're just not HARDCORE enough to carry it around in the awesome travel case. It's okay, Ack. Not everyone can be as cool as us Sega kids. You just have fun beating yourself upside the head with a dead squirrel trying to replicate the glory of full-color on the go (for a couple hours at a time. That's okay, the games are so intense you couldn't play them much longer than that without your fingers melting anyway).

Oh well, I guess I'm just not cool enough to have a company's marketing section tell me how cool I am for giving them money.Original_Name wrote:It's okay, Ack. Sigh.
