What type of storage do you use to house your SNES games?

I absolutely love these official shelves and I wish I could find more of them. They also hold NES games (but I have so many of those that they go somewhere else).

Now.. how to store Super Famicom games (and I suppose, PAL SNES)?

I remember seeing those black SNES shelves for sale in my local Blockbuster when I was young. I really wanted to get one, but some d-bag had to put his 2 cents in and my dad didn't want me to spend the money on it (they were $20).

I use a Billy bookcase from Ikea myself. They come with 5 shelves plus the bottom and you could easily just but the shelves from home depot or lowes that are supposed to be used with the tracks you put on the wall if you don't want to buy the over priced ikea ones

That definitely looks great. The only problem I have with storing them that way is if you have SFC carts as well. They don't have a flat top, they're kinda rounded, so all the carts don't stack vertically that well.

I am cross on storing my SNES and N64 games. I have a fair number of SFC games and love uniformity across the collection, but I am also growing to like the idea of not having them on display but in a secure storage container. For those of you who store your carts in UGC's can you ballpark the total cost per game to make cover?

I don't like Horizontal storage of carts. Holding eight carts up to find a particular game is a pain. I also think the Universal Cases would take up too much space for smaller carts.

Maybe this idea?

From my CRT vs LCD signature link, I also added the pic there for future reference.
CRTGAMER wrote:As far as organizing I just have shelves behind me of Alphabetized CD / DVD cases. For the Game Carts I built custom wood shelves that are cut to size matching the width and height of my N64 carts stored contacts down. Keeps the dust out of the contacts and I don't have to hold eight carts to pull one. There is enough air space above each cart for my finger or a taller Game Shark cart to fit. Five shelves tall. Laminated Wood flooring makes great space saving lightweight thin shelving material. I used a finish nailer for a quick and clean fit. Shelves are held together with ¾" slats. Gameboy carts a real pain, A Gamestop or Golfball display case seems the best way.

See Im not a big fan of that style of storage for N64 and SFC games since there is no label. And things rarely stay organized like that when you have kiddos in and out of your house.

That's the headache, a problem too with the Universal cases if kids are grabbing them. My neighbor's grandkids are constantly putting games back in the wrong CD cases. I wonder if the little bastards are yanking spinning discs out of that poor Dreamcast console. Since my son's friends prefer the PS3 in his room not a problem here I guess.

Even without cart labels, relatively easy to find a particular game if maintained in Alphabetized order. The empty spots are two carts plugged in on two different N64 consoles. Thanks to noise I have a 2nd N64 console hooked up to my VGA monitor. :D

EDIT
Each shelf layer is also independent of each other, makes for easy swapping around or moves if need be. More shelves can also be easily added as the library grows.

Picked up this beautiful Super Famicom storage cabinet when I lived in Japan.

I have some N64 drawers for the SNES carts, since they fit both N64 games and SNES games.
