Like I posted in a different thread, this is Nintendo doing a quick cash in on the Mario brand rather than actually putting some effort into the product and making something special. It's Mario's 25th anniversary; you figure they would do something big but they just re-release All-Stars again (not that All-Stars is bad at all). I compare this release to the Legend of Zelda Collection (while still pissed about not including LttP); that release had much more of the older back-catalog of games up till the current generation.

I understand that if I do not like it I don't have to buy it and that people who don't have the older consoles can play these games (even though they are on Virtual Console). It is just a disappointment to hear of this collection for a milestone anniversary and find out it is a re-release of All-Stars with a few non-gameplay extras.

Honestly, I can understand people being disappointed in the collection (where are the Mario Land and SMW and Yoshi's island games?) but at the same time I don't think people have the right of being angry or calling them lazy. It is just a rerelease of their old classics, for people who weren't around when these games were first released.

I love Agatha Christie novels, should I have to pay a fortune to buy a copy of the original run? Or should a publisher print some new copies of the book, so I can enjoy it?

Yeah, for 30 dollars, you can't go wrong with 4 classic Mario games; I plan on picking it up as well.

I think they should have included Mario World and released it for $25 for the 25th anniversary. Then pretty much nobody would be complaining for those small changes would make a big difference in people's perception of value.

To be fair, I was not actually anticipating buying the 25th anniversary, but I can see how it is a huge let down to mario fans.

There are a ton of games they could have put on it, but they instead just ported a 20 year old game to the wii.

SMB + SMB2 + SMB2(American) + SMB3 on VC would cost $20. Getting that, plus music and a book for a few bucks more.

I don't see this as too bad. Could have been a lot better, but I decided to spring for it anyway since I have woefully misplaced my Super Mario All-Stars on SNES.
