Re: Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection
The Beatles are old and annoying. Yeah the music still holds up marginally well with some of the song still being true classics, but aside from that they're overrated.YoshiEgg25 wrote:Heyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyheyhey.Jbroderway wrote:It's poor form by nintendo to pull a beatles and rerelease the same material.
Don't go disparaging the Beatles. I'll whoop you into oblivion.
Not to mention I cannot stand all these modern idiot Beatles fans who praise them as the end all be all of popular music. After about twenty remaster and co0llection CD's tons of overpriced box sets and endless other whoring of their brand and image they've become little more than a name for what they used to be.
Seriously, why would I pay $300 THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS for a flash drive filled with lossy, awful, 128kbps MP3's of their music in a flimsy and frankly oversized box!?
Beatles aside, I am disappointed in Nintendo. This was a golden opportunity to re-remake the original classics with the modern 2D power of the Wii. Not just rehash what we got 18 years ago, press a 2-cent CD of music we've all heard to death, print up some pamphlets on cheap paper and call it fresh.
Plus the All-Stars remakes payed badly with slippery controls and a laggy feel to the gameplay. Give me the NES version of the original SMB anyday.

Re: Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection
I suppose drawing comparisons to the beatles is silly, since three fourths (four fourths for you conspiracy nuts) of the beatles are dead and have nothing to do with reissues.
Personally, the reason this release bothers me is because I paid eight dollars apiece for the nes Mario games through the virtual console service, only to have nintendo roll out this shiny package with a cd and a book for cheaper than I paid for the same games in the past 365 days.
Also, don't threaten physical violence on a message board for vintage games. It does not make you look scary. You fight for family, god, or country. Not 50 year old music.

Wait, I thought this was a re-remake? As in, new graphics and such for SMB?
Isn't it?
Isn't it?

Whoa Whoa WHOA When did Ringo die? And Paul McCartney (?) is still alive. They had everything to do with the reissues. The original CDs of the Beatles sounded kinda meh. They were a bit of a rush job. There was a wide market for better sounding CDs for their music. So they went back and remastered them. This was the first time they remastered their entire back catalog and reissued them since 1987 for the initial CDs. The actual CDs could have been a bit better (like stereo and mono on one disc) but I think that was outside of the Beatles hands and more into EMI's domain.Jbroderway wrote:I suppose drawing comparisons to the beatles is silly, since three fourths (four fourths for you conspiracy nuts) of the beatles are dead and have nothing to do with reissues.
It still could be worse. I know other band's that remastered their back catalog on CD 3 times (AC/DC)

Thank you. No, Ringo is not dead, and honestly, the Paul Is Dead theorists are just crazies. As for the CDs, have you ever listened to the remasters compared to the original CDs? It sounds incredible. There's really no comparison.Betamax001 wrote:Whoa Whoa WHOA When did Ringo die? And Paul McCartney (?) is still alive. They had everything to do with the reissues. While I disagree with your Beatles critique, I think you are spot on with this one. They could have implemented all the NSMBW graphics and controls AND multiplayer to bring the classic games to a new era in a fresh and exciting way.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:This was a golden opportunity to re-remake the original classics with the modern 2D power of the Wii. To all the "virtual console already released these games" people: weren't those releases the original NES versions, not the beefed up All-Stars versions?
Hahaha Ringo Starr isn't dead!Jbroderway wrote:I suppose drawing comparisons to the beatles is silly, since three fourths (four fourths for you conspiracy nuts) of the beatles are dead and have nothing to do with reissues.

Re: Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection
I can't believe this thread turned into a Beatles discussion.
But as far as the game goes, I was a little disappointing myself. Yeah, I get it, it's a collectors thing. But still, 25 is a nice round number for a huge and successful series. Why not go big? Re-release All-Stars, but then do something else. Who wouldn't want the Mario Land series remade to look more like the All-Stars collection? Include both the Mario Worlds. THAT would be a sweet 25th Anniversary collection!
