Movie Recommendation: Juno

Post by racketboy »

I don't go to the theatre very often any more, but after seeing the trailer for Juno and hearing some good word-of-mouth, I couldn't help but be interested in it. I also wanted to check it out since I was rather tired of the standard action movie or straight-up comedy (which I do enjoy from time to time).

Without going into too much detail, I REALLY enjoyed Juno. It was very well-made and I had very little to complain about it. It has a wonderful blend of unforced comedy and light drama, a perfectly cast group of characters, and an interesting story.

It makes a good date movie (if you're into that) without being sappy or whatever.

I strongly recommend seeing Juno if you want something different but engaging.
To be honest, Juno has to be one of my top 5 movies of the last 3 years or so.

I think you'll find it more satisfying if you watch it based purely on my recommendation, but if you need more convincing, here's the trailer:

BTW, don't read the wikipedia entry -- it's full of spoilers.

I really want to see this... but everytime I remember to say something to my friends, it's already like midnight and no one wants to go.

Except the only similarity is that it involves a pregnancy.

I had to see this the first day it was out. I'm a big Michael Cera and Jason Bateman fan from Arrested Development. I was surprised to find that a lot of the humor wasn't what I was expecting. (which was a sappier kind of romantic humor)

I've seen both and I never once thought they were similar.

Are you saying you thought it was sappy or it wasn't?

I've seen it, and I can say it is nothing like knocked up.

And yeah, it is a good movie. I'm not sure I'd rate it as high as Racket though.

Oh, and while we're at it, I might as well recommend the new Futurama movie. I got it for xmas and all i can say is, it's good have back. Hopefully it sticks around :?

Yeah, no thanks. Everyone is raving about this one, calling it a feel-good movie, but I'm convinced, based on the trailers, it would just annoy me. Yay for Dwight though.
