RGB Modded JPN N64 wont play USA games

Post by poundrick »

HELP,

I have just bought a RGB modded JAP N64 which has also had the cartridge slot modded to accept all cartridges, the guy who advertised it said it would run both JAP and USA games, its running JAP games perfectly, when I tried to play Paper Mario USA version the game boots then crashes about 2 minutes in and displayed an error code saying 4 TLB exception on load, Mario Party 2 loaded and then crashed a few minutes into the game.

Have anyone got any idea whats happening please?

Are the connectors on the system and cart cleaned? One time when I put in Super Metroid US my SNES said that the cart can not be played because it was not official. Was pretty funny and wish I took a picture of it.

Just trying to eliminate a problem.

Q-tip+rubbing alcohol on the carts connectors. Clean until no more dirt is on the q-tip.

After that. take a old credit card, wrap it tightly in a thin tshirt, put some rubbing alcohol on it, and stick it in and out of the cartridge slot on the console itself. Repeat this process a few times then switch the card to a dry spot on the shirt and do the same.

I got this issue once, but with an NTSC n64, cleaning the contacts fixed it.

Could just be more dirt on the cartridge connectors itself. You really have to open it with a game bit and see the pins to clean it 100%.

Some dirt can be very stubborn.
