Re: Anyone into Classic Animation?
So many Warner cartoons that I watched on Saturday mornings when I was little that were butchered when I caught them in the 90s. Same thing with a lot of Tom & Jerry too.
I've never met a pun I didn't like. - Stark

I think anyone who has not watched Bugs, should definitly at least see the
Bugs vs Daffy episodes. Great banter with Elmer getting more confused.
Here's that fuzzy clip, get the DVD for the best experience!

Personally I'm quite a fan of the Bugs bunny/daffy duck vs the cartoon artist sketches. Like this one:CRTGAMER wrote:Found it! An older similar post:

I notice theres a lot of Warner Bros love here. No disney fans? I'm a big fan of The Band Concert -
I'm really into musical cartoons in general. These episodes of tom and jerry are brilliant -
The Hollywood Bowl:
The Cat Concerto:
Back to some more Disney, how about some Goofy. I always loved the really stupid visual humour that accompanies the narrator in the goofy cartoons. I thought they were some of Disneys funniest stuff:
How To Swim:
Goofy the Olympic Champ:
Goofy Gymnastics:
Wa-ha-ha-hoooeey!

Re: Anyone into Classic Animation?
These old classics were pretty much all I watched at one point in my life, before I discovered more serious stuff like Batman:The Animated series, Disney's Gargoyles, X-Men and japanese anime
I still enjoy the occasional Tom and Jerry cartoon. Good stuff. I used to love Animaniacs and Tiny Toons as well and today I'll sometimes watch Futurama, Family Guy and I WAS a big South Park fan until that show even managed to offend ME.
Some of the old eighties stuff like Transformers, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Go Bots and Jason and the Wheeled Warriors kept me very happy as a kid. I've always loved animation
Not surprising that I love old 2d video games too, especially when they started with cell animation and cell shading. God I loved Earthworm Jim, The Lion King, Aladdin on the Sega Genesis and The Adventures of Batman and Robin on the SNES

Re: Anyone into Classic Animation?
Would the original shorts of the Pink Panther be considered a classic? If then I am whole heartily along with Popeye shorts from the 30's.

The Cat Came Back
I used to go to Spike and Mike's Festival of Animation when they had annual shows years ago. A chance to see independent cartoons, some of which later went big on cable. Beavis and Butthead, Simpsons, Hey Arnold and Tin Toy the predecessor of Toy Story. I re-discovered this little indy, a real jewel!

Re: Anyone into Classic Animation?
I LOVE classic cartoons
and many people here do, a lot of them think this is cartoon at its best
watchable at any time, and you don't have to know what they are saying(language barrier), nothing to follow, funny, and extremely watchable over and over and over and over...
but I must say, those people must have been on crack
because any man in his senses can't think of all the stuff these guys put into these cartoons, its absolutely crazy! lets not forget they were first at it, so they didn't copy any one else. Where did they get all these ideas from!?

Re: Anyone into Classic Animation?
The DVDs have some extra footage on the background of the Warners inspiration. Slapstick comedy influences of comedians back then. The Rabbit Fire dialog and physical comedy. Also the Carl Stalling orchestral, that beautiful tempo adding to the gag.
Poor confused Elmer.
"Have you got an Elephant hunting license? You can't go hunting rabbits with an Elephant gun, why don't you shoot an Elephant?"
"If you do I'll give you such a pinch!"

Anyone remember this one?

Elmer put on some weight! CLICK THE PIC FOR VIDEO.

A great reference book!

Also a plug for Dreamcast Floigan Brothers. A very inspired Looney Tunes dialog!

Re: Anyone into Classic Animation?
My friend has the entire classic warner bros merry melodies cartoons on his ps3. Whenever anyone is over well turn one on, laugh, and then realize that one cartoon turned into 4 hours worth. Awesome stuff. The first few episodes show that Elmer Fudd has every right to to want to kill Bugs Bunny.
